Battery light.
Hello all,
My battery light will not turn off. 1990 wire harness wired to a NB cluster. Gauge indicators work everything is wired as it needs to be. Prior to dropping the new engine I was not having this issue. Only thing different is painting the engine bay, I made sure I am metal to metal for my grounding. No new electronics were added.
symptoms:
1) battery light will not turn off
2) when my fan comes on my RPMs drop when fans shut of everything goes back to normal but battery light is on constantly.
3) when my fans come on my AFR gauge turns off. It's the SCG1 innovate. The boost gauge works and gives a read but not the AFR gauge
I have double check that the 2 wires that plug into the alternator are secured. There is voltage on both wires I can test.
battery while car is running is at 14.5-14.8
battery while car off is 12.4-12.8
I made sure no wire came loose that powers the battery light on the gauge. All fused checked.
I ordered a new 200amp alternator
my power draws are 2 spal fans, R8 COP, 2 unified pacific head lights, DW 400 fuel pump.
I have a NA8 alternator.
thanks,

What's your battery voltage? Looking back at a log you sent me with your previous issue, you were charging at 14.4 volts. Is that still the case?
If you're now not charging, which is why the battery light would be on, those Spal fans would drop voltage significantly, and a lot of widebands will shut off below ~11 volts, so it's entirely possible all these symptoms are related to a bad alternator or something in the charging system having an issue.
Most auto parts stores will test your alternator for free if you bring it in to them.

the charge is still the 14.5, I have a new higher output alternator on the way, the alternator I have on the car right now has about 200 miles on it now. I am working another day but was planning to take it and have it tested on my day off. I did not test the power output while the fans were on yet but plan on doing that also before I put the new alternator on.
