No, the MSD retards/brings down your timing when it senses boost. It will bring you down to 6° BTDC when in full boost.

You can run as high of octane as your want, but a 91-93 (96-98 for you) octane should be good.

i ran mid or low grade before on my 92. But that was because I had the link and could adjust my timing. Ineed gas and that was all they had

They're a good idea IMO, but instead of using them to run richer (more fuel) use them so that you can lower your fuel pressure. If you're trying to cool things off try water (or alcohol) injection.
