Best Turbo?

What does everyone recomend for the best turbo/ setup?

patsmx5 02-14-2008 11:22 PM

You don't start enough threads.... One was enough.

Have you read all the faqs on the forum? It would be a good way to start. I don't know shit about turbo's, but I do they there is no universal does all turbo out there that is perfect for every setup and HP goal. You need to have a good idea of what the car will be used for and what your goals and upgrade path will look like. I think you already have a t3/t4, which is what I'm looking for, and as far as I know, it will get you to 300whp.

pay turbotim to build you one. he'll make you a FAST setup

1fastmiata 02-14-2008 11:28 PM

my car is used for road track events, (thats been stated in previous posts, but im not expecting you to have known that) Im set up for race, im gutted in the interior (need to remove the rest of the dash and i need a lightweight seat. i dont have a/c anymore, trying to get rid of powersteering, going to drop the heater core, i need a larger exhaust, but no1 is responding, and i have different questions so i open new threads for different questions... i have "Power steering to manual rack conversion" open, this one, "manifold/3"exhaust", and "transmissions" all open, each asking different questions

how much tho... id like to stay as cheap as possible

The problem is you post threads about stuff that is already been posted. Do a search and answer your own questions.

Enthuza and BEGI make a 3" exhaust for you car. Call them and buy one. Done...

Oh good grief! :bowrofl: That's a curse word in my garage. I know you're kidding. I went through 6 of them. Not all were failures, but were either misconfigured (clocked the wrong way or had the wrong parts), DOA, or dead in a short amount of time. Oh, and the low lag benefit was never really all that evident. I won't ever have one again or recommend one to anyone. Too much pain.

If it's anything like the Aerodyne turbo that I had back in the mid late '90's, my recommendation would be to:
a) Return it if you can
b) Say a prayer for it and hope it doesn't seize up or wallow out bearings, ultimately resulting in no boost, but a nice goose sound under the hood.
c) Keep the boost at 6-8-psi and just don't push it. Anything over that and I'd feel really nervous.

If you have to ask, then it's too much for you ;)

Pauls setup would probably be around 2200 without electronics or intercooler. I will be looking into a way to make these manifolds quicker and easier.

I recommend you stop posting. Every thread you have on here is garbage. You're making me look good.

I'd run one of these. It has the best of everything really it's like the universal prefered turbo for all applications. It has all the good merits for whatever your goal is irrelevant of what your goal is. It not only meets all your needs, it's also easy to install, cost effective, durable, and spools quickly. It's optimized for everything and all setups. It performs it's job efficiently and effectively on any size engine and is rated at whatever hp your looking to achieve. Here's a link to where I got mine.
