Pat, you know that the Fast Forward Turbos are truly the best.....hell, it even comes with 2 Powercards!

They are good, but they don't offer the flexibility. FFT needs two intercoolers and mine only needs 1, and that one is really only to add backpressure to keep air out of the exhaust. Plus mine is optimized for everything and all applications.

Pauls setup would probably be around 2200 without electronics or intercooler. I will be looking into a way to make these manifolds quicker and easier. I would love to have a manifold that looks like the one that was scrolling as pauls display picture around 2 months ago.. looks like a 1.8L kind of but fits a 1.6... my problem is that im having difficulty keeping the turbo on the car... the bolts back off or sheer no matter what i do. let me know what you think |

Summit racing has some new header bolts with lock washers that wedge against the head if they try to loosen.
Im just going to use #8 or harder bolts. Are you over tightening them. If you haven't already used a torque wrench, I would next time. Other wise satan is attacking you. LOL |

This is silly if you want cheap buy megan racing or weld it yourself if you want reliable Get tim or Corky to make you something. FWIW i have had 0 stud failures on my manifold but read about blue million on this site and other miata sites. I think people are
A. undertorqueing the bolts allowing them to rattle and then sheer do to momentum and repetition. B. Overtorqueing and weakining the bolts. C. using garbage bolts to hold something that sees forces in the 300 lbs range acting upon it from time to time in periods rangeing from several minutes to seconds, all with a manifold metal temperature of 1400 or so Degrees farenheit. |
my turbo is a Garrett model and it is a hybrid T3/T4 combination. Small exhaust side (for a quick spool) and a biggercompressor side (for additional boost capabilities). The turbo kit itselfis from Flying Miata, but was designed by Corky Bell.
believe me, the bolts are torqued correctly. |
