Hooked it up last night, car wouldn't start. So I called J&S up and John trouble shoots with me over the phone, still no go. He then offers to meet up at Danny K's (billiards and sports bar) in Anaheim to take a closer look, which is only 25 minutes away from me. We meet up and he takes one look at the box and says, "Duh, one of the dip switches should be up instead of down" @$#%@ He offers to buy me dinner inside and I accept. I pick his brain for 2 hours and found out a bunch of cool tidbits:

- He was a Sonar Tech in the NAVY and the knock sensor he uses in his kit is basically a mini sonar, thats how its able to detect individual cylinder knock and retard individually (and re-advance).

-He WAS good friends with Larry Widmer, you know, ENDYNE, theoldone, ect. Apparently, John was selling J&S units to Larry for a heavily discounted price and larry was making a killing. But since J&S was just a start-up back then, he didn't raise the price. That was about the time when Hondas were on the rise. Other people started to call John and ask for the product and he sold it to them. Larry wasn't so happy about that even though they never agreed to exclusivity, so larry stopped carrying the J&S. And stop returning phone calls.

- He worked closely with Oscar Jackson on his (in)famous first supercharger.

-Currently developing a plug-n-play EMS due to popular demand.

-His wife's name is Shirley, hence J&S.

-He works out of his house and garage. Everything is made there and every component is Made In The USA.

-He's REALLY good at pool. Kicked my ***.

Oh, and I didn't buy a single thing from him directly. Awesome customer service.

First post ever, but was talking to olderguy through E-mail. He lives 40 mins away from me!

I have to agree John is awesome. He really does treat every J&S unit like it's his own baby. I bought mine used and he gave me all the support I needed to wired it correctly. My unit also didn't come with the wire harness and instead of charge me for one he told me the part no so I can order it myself for cheap.

 

John and his company are top notch.
His products work great, and he stands behind them 200%. He just finished reprogramming mine to interface directly with my Autronic SM4 and my custom crank trigger sequence.
