Default BP oil pump differences

Hi, I am in the middle of putting my BP bottom end together and I purchased a new oil pump. However, it is different from the one that came off the motor.

Take a look at the attached pictures and see where the differences are. The old pump uses a gasket and new one uses an Oring for the feed into the block.

Do you guys have different pumps for different Miata years? If anyone knows please let me know, and if I can use the new pump, what kind of gasket and oring should I use?

Thanks in advance!

my escort engine used a gasket but the oil pump on my '97 used an o-ring. o-ring usually comes with the pump, if it didn't take the pump into the autoparts store and try a few on for size.

it will seal fine either way, the o-ring is far more forgiving though... and re-useable
