Is there a forum software setting the prohibits thread necro until someone has a certain number of posts?

M.net has a huge warning for old threads below the Quick Reply function. This forum could use the same thing.

Does anybody actually pay attention to it? (I'll admit that I've never really noticed it myself.)

Yes -- you have to enable a check box that appears next to the submit post button or the post will not submit. The check box shows a disclaimer that says something like "Thread is XYZ days old since last post. Confirm intention to post in this thread."

Ah, interesting. I guess I've never necro-posted over there, as I've never seen that warning before. But there it is:

Ask yourself, though: do you want to be deprived of the enjoyment of pouncing on thread-resurrecting newbs? Do you really want MiataTurbo.net to be clean, orderly and Sanitized For Your Protection? Is having to occasionally wade through the electronic equivalent of several thousand dead pigs floating down a river too big a price to pay for being a valued member of the second most awesome website on the entire internet?

No, this is fun.

And then i still get to post in ancient threads WHILE making fun of moronic noobs.

It's a win/win situation.

IOW, do I want to filter through old, irrelevant threads bumped by noobs who don't know any better just to get to the content and quality that makes this site so good?

Put a check box on old threads, please.

I think it's interesting to look back on these old threads.

The other day I read one from way back on M.net about the coolant reroute, the one with the comparisons of each head and headgasket. It was interesting to see people defending the stock Mazda setup, asking if the people with coolant reroutes felt they knew better than the Mazda engineers

But if you actually remember posting in them, I can see how it would be annoying.
