Attachment 214922
another fucking lug breaks, lmao dad starts tripping out on me its all my fault cheap after market stuff i buy...they came with the rims so w.e
Attachment 214923
new one and two broken ones
Attachment 214924
thats what it looks like now...
Attachment 214925
does that look like the right stud?
Attachment 214926
so i call up my buddy that sold me the rims, and lugs. I said i want a free rim or w.e some shit because he sold me this shit and its breaking. And i now i dont feel like touching any other studs, im bringing to some shop now. But he said its my fault that it broke because it "over torqued them" i dont think i did i just used a johnson bar to put them on i dont have a torque wrench. So the question im asking is: is it my fault? Even if its to tight should they not come out? And what should i do now, im really pissed because it was almost done now i have another one so i have to wait even longer to finish the car...i almost feel like suing him because he wont give me a free rim im that pissed.:vash:

It's your fault for using cheap crap and not using a torque wrench. That was one expensive drill bit. Don't ever lubricate wheel studs either, clean them with a wire brush. The oil lubricant somehow multiplies the torque applied and can cause issues. I've only read that though.

MiataJet 01-06-2008 03:52 PM

How long was the rim on there? Did you use any antiseize or grease during installation?? It reduces or eliminates rust and total seizure. Do you ever take wheels off to avoid a sitution like that? Get in the habit of taking the wheels off and cleaning the inside of the rim and oil the lugs twice a year, and if you overtorque the lugs, you risk warping the rotor or wheel. Now, what does the rim cost? $100 maybe? It is for this purpose. Small claims runs $35 to $100, now factor in time off work, transportation and whtever else you might need, and then weigh that against the cost of a rim. So, IF you win, but spent $230 on court, loss of work, gas, lunch, etc. and the rim was $100, what did you gain? Not a fucking thing. If you lose, you still need to buy a rim, and you're out court costs, work, etc. making it $330. I love how everyone thinks suing is the greatest thing.

This one is entirely your fault. You fucked up the rim and didn't give him the opportunity to rectify the situation prior to fucking up the rim. He owes you nothing (except maybe a set of lugs, but most certainly not the rim that you fucked up.)

Chalk it up to lessons learned, and move on. It sucks but sometimes you have to be responsible for yourself.

wow I can't even imagine how pissed I'd be. :(

paul 01-06-2008 04:40 PM

it's always good to sue your friends.

you get what you pay for and the lugs were free so you do the math.

when you are ready invest in a set of McGard Spline Drive 2 piece lug nuts http://www.good-win-racing.com/mazda/miata/21-1058.html

miataz 01-06-2008 05:00 PM

ya im not buying this cheap Chinese shitty lugs anymore...my dads the one whos getting mad at me blaming all the shit one me i care but not that much im selling these once there off anyways lol(if they come off). And i have only had them on for a month not even, so it shouldn't be that hard to take off the lugs. My friend said its my fault because i was doing doughnuts...hes just making up shit now. And those lugs on that web page the almost look the same as mine. But for 70$ i think there different these ones were like 50 cents each...i tried getting another one out but it feels like its going snap to...so im going to leave it to the shop to do it. I would bring it now but im waiting on my injectors, ms, and my rad so its in pieces right now. And i need to get these off to do my shocks and springs. Lmao my dad got so mad hes like fuck it just cut the rim off.

magnamx-5 01-06-2008 05:05 PM

get good lug nuts find better freinds and tell your dad to chill the fuck out. Shit happens Depending on the rims i would be inclined to chuck them as well. A air chissel can take the lug nuts of and not damage the lug if you are carefull.

miataz 01-06-2008 05:08 PM

i know ive been trying to tell him that but he doesnt understand hes a hard headed wop. Lol my friend is ok he gives me deals all the time but when shit breaks that he sells me he blames it on me...sometimes it is but i just want to hit him in the face once. :)
Think these would be good enough http://www.good-win-racing.com/mazda/miata/21-1058.html
for 70$ i think so, and they shouldnt snap :/

magnamx-5 01-06-2008 05:11 PM

I run the Mcgards and have only had one fail on me. Other than that they are pretty nice ballbearing seats and superior caoting and, quality in the steel.

miataz 01-06-2008 05:22 PM

alright i am probably going to purchase a set of those then...after i get all of these off. Imagine all of the other lugs i have to take off break:eek5:

Ben 01-06-2008 05:27 PM

that sucks. has me scared because your lugs look a lot like mine :noes:
did you put any anti-seize on your studs when you installed the nuts?

miataz 01-06-2008 05:29 PM

lmao did u pay like 80 cents each for the lugs? If they look like mine man get rid of them now, there so thin and break easily i dont want anyone else have to go through with this. When im done my rims probably going to be fucked...

magnamx-5 01-06-2008 05:36 PM

Goodwin sells good lugs as well, if you are concerned about quality i would look into them. for the most part i have not found a singal person who has had a problem with the stuff Brian Goodwin sells on his site. If you see it there it will most likely be good quality.

Toddcod 01-06-2008 05:58 PM

Did you spray some deep penitrating oil on them. Dont try to power loosen them. They seem to be bound up. Put your socket and wrench on them and then hit the wrench with a BIGGGGG ASSSSSS HAMMER!!!! sometimes a jolting shock on them will break it free, were a steady presure just preaks it. I have to do this on old rusty cars all the time. Steady pressure just rounds the bolts.
If it breaks oh well, nothing changes your in the same boat. Go ahead and take all the bolts out. I don'r think the scratches are that bad to change the rim. I would use it with different studs. Like $2.50 studs.
If you are just bound and bent to not use the rim get a blow torch just heat the lug (Dont melt it!) and it will break loose. if you can get a vice grip to get a good grip on some piece of the broke lugs this should work on them too. yo may have to rig a cheater bar(wrench, pipe, etc etc) to have enough power to beak it , not burn your hand, or scuff your nuckels. Being country has it's benefits.....

magnamx-5 01-06-2008 06:02 PM

Amen

Toddcod 01-06-2008 06:04 PM

With a break over bar you can break them tightening them up. You may of weakened them. I have broke some before.
Can you get your center cap off or is it mounted from the back. If you can get it off, take off the rotor and you may can just drill or grind from the back.
