Default Burning oil when revving down.

This is a pretty recent issue and I'm really confused about it. My 1.8l 95 miata is burning alot of oil when it's revving down, it almost smells like a 2 stroke, but when it's revving up it's fine. Yet it doesn't burn off enough oil to affect oil preassure untill it's about time for an oil change even if im doing alot of engine breaking. Ig im just really confused and wondering if anyone has any advice on this.

Blue smoke out the tailpipe on deceleration only? Likely valve stem seals. If you have a borescope, you can remove a spark plug and insert it into one of the cylinders to confirm. If it's valve stem seals, you might see some oil dripping from the intake valves.
