Go on m.net. Open the "car buing faq" or whatever its called.
Its got everything you need listed.

These cars really don't have many "special issues" or whatever.

1. Welcome...

(that being said)...2. Are you from the U.S. / England / Ireland / Wales / Australia / Canada?

(if yes)...3. You spell like crap.

(if not)...disregard #3.

Now to answer your question. The miata is practically like any other car. Look for whatever you'd look for when you're buying a car. Rust on the bottom of the sides (rocker panel), especially in front of the doors. Underbody rust, oil around the diff, oil leaks in the engine bay, etc.

If you are aware, then change it. If you don't, you won't make it long here.

First and foremost; I am quite confident that you are a troll, potentially an alter ego from CR.net.

Given the possibility that you aren't a troll:

There is a vast community of technical experts on here, and we are very willing to take our time to help out other people who help us help them. The first impression that we get of your personality is the actual text that we are reading. A post that is written sloppily, with shitty spelling and grammar that a second grader should be ashamed of, tells us that you are lazy. If you are lazy, that means that you didn't actually put in any effort to search for your own answer. It also tells us that you haven't read the newb stickies which means that you probably haven't seen our very simple guide to how to compose your first forum post to avoid this EXACT problem.

With that being said, the people in this community are more or less the technical experts on performance and reliability of 1990-2005 Mazda Miatas. We have mechanical, electronics, and computer engineers, fluid dynamics people, a LOT of military, and several vendors here that have forgotten more about the Miata than you or I will ever know. You would do well here to stop, take a step back, and think twice before you come in here trying to tell US that we are a bunch of idiots for asking that you put some effort into composing your posts. Think about this: If you aren't going to put any effort into asking your question, why the hell should we put effort into answering it?

Go find the newb stickies, read them, comply with them, come back, and compose a better written response to this post. You'll be expected to spell better than you have, since that is generally an easy solution. Grammar improvement takes either practice, or a high school education.

If you want to be lazy and have people offer you a pacifier while they hold your hand, take you to a car, and say "buy this", then there are two other forums that will cater to your non-consumer researching desires.

Thumbs down

There's a difference between being a bad speller and making up your own words, like buyn, or replace words like some with sum. Are you a 14 year old girl typing on a Sidekick, because that's how you're coming across.

As soon as I read the title of your thread and saw your user name, I knew this thread would deliver.

Present yourself as a child, and you'll be treated as one.

It isn't. That is why I made a sentence with only two words and got away with it. What it is, is a respectable place where the dedicated Miata go-fast guys hang out to share information, experiences, and a few cheap laughs or two. Even CR will bag on you for the level of knowledge you are presenting to us.

I am one of the worst offenders when it comes to spelling errors and sometimes missed words, but I try to correct them ASAP and work hard at eliminating too many grammatical errors (Either I failed the public school system or its failed me, but that is a mute point at this time).

Take a remedial Com course at your local collage and come on back. Google is also a great asset if you're as challenged as I am...

Well, if you came to this site searching for info and you searched "Buyn a Miata", you would probably find 300 threads similar to this one. Now if you were to open a few of those threads and read the info you desire, you would find out quickly we are grammar ****'s, and people get butt hurt about it.

Welcome.
