cars you have beaten
Now i know miatas are auto-x kings, but what cars have you beaten/hung with on the 1/4 mile track/street
|
i smoked a 6 cyl mustang off the line and for about a block... But there was a girl driving it, does that count?
|
i could run past a 6 cyl mustang and beat it... shoeless
|
my altima can beat a v6 mustang.
|
n/a I took my buddys daytona turbo..until he got traction that is...We'll see this summer if the turbo 1.8 can slap him around (most likely)

Fuck the solstice, its the lotus' you have to worry about. Our local club pres (prolly fastes driver and car in the area) had some problems taken him out, swapped his FM stuff out for JIC and beat the lotus.
As for Richard beating Brent, it happened during one event. To say that swaping to the JIC setup did the trick is a little far fetched. Every dog has their day. And I don't think the Elise was on r-comps. At the challenge cup two years ago I beat EVERY Miata in the rain when my car was still NA and on bald as hell RA-1. I think that was 12 Miatas from stockish all the way to a completely done up M62 autocross beast from Calgary that regularily sets FTD in Calgary and Edmonton. Most of the Miatas were FI'd. Does this mean I'm god's gift to Autocross and have a magical car? Nope, I had a particularily good and lucky day. Everyone else had a less good day. Sorry for the drift, but if I have to hear this particular piece of bullshit again I'm going to scream. :) |
And the Solstic is supposed to be the new C-Stock car to have. The 99 Sport had a long run. The new MX-5 is a wine and cheeser's car.

Well I wouldn't get carried away. Richard is quick and so was/is the car, but being the fastest in the area? No.

Well he acredited the win to the suspension so I thought I would too.. Sorry if I hit a soft spot Jay. |

:) Didn't hit a soft or sore spot :) Richard tends to state things as fact, when they are anything but.
One of the fastest? He's quick (quicker than me), but doesn't autocross enough to be THAT fast. Brent is a better driver from what I've seen. |

hey hey hey...I'm a wine and cheaser ok...with 440/350's. hehe

not to mention the "toned-down" mazdaspeed 6. Designed for the average driver in mind.

Does that honestly surprise you? These are the same ppl who built an n/a rotary 4door...Plain is their plan
The Mazdaspeed 6 and 3 are a step in the right direction. The new Miata, not so much. |

I don't think it could be said that a 4 door sports car with a Rotary engine is playing it safe. In fact the RX8 is pretty risky if you think about it. :) A better example would be the Mazdaspeed Miata, now that is half assed.

stock 05 pontiac GTO..... both of us had a horrible run at the drag strip..... wheel spin can be a bitch..... but I had him by half a second and by 2mph...
|
Easy there big boy.
My point being is that the RX8 is the first (only) sports car with 4 doors. AND it doesn't run pistions. What do you think Mazda should have done? Build a high HP big boost piece of shit that no one can afford and is in the shop more than it is driven? The RX8 was smart. Safe is a matter of opinion. |
lol..... rx8's DO tend to spend alot of time in the shop....
|
well i say soltice becuase the elise is just beyond alot of our pockets. i like the sky alot more, even more than the mx-5 but when i hear about the sky redline then i was just floored. the mx-5 i feel will be around a long time. its got a great suspension design, its short and wide and has most of its weight down low and is not front and rear heavy for those reasons i think its hard to beat but it can be beaten. i bought one for a reason and it should hold true for quite a while. probly the time the miata starts to die will only because of shortage of parts. but somthing tells me after how many millions have been sold that will take quite a while.

a car that needs to be treated with care...... any more care than a normal vehicle.... at an rx8's price point.... IS inherently risky
Not that I don't like them, and I AM a former rotary owner; and will always be at heart..... |
needs more kill storys. i love running down modded fox body mustangs the guy got some new heads so when i get it all together agian its gonna be fun might even need some nos. :)
|
Wow this thread drifted out of control in an hour and a half's time lol. How do we go from "cars you have beaten" to discussing how safe a move mazda made with releasing the 4-door RX-8? Actually I am glad that our moderators allow such drifts because it leads to some interesting discussions sometimes.
Anyway, back on topic I beat a raised up redneck truck in my stock 97' on Golden State Ave. Hick opponant was apparantly scurred and gave up on the line :) |
whoever said that the rx8 was the first 4-door sports car is wrong. need i remind you of the STi and the Evo?
|
I said it, and no the STI and the EVO aren't sports cars. They are rally cars and heavy pigs that rely on AWD too much. Keeping in mind that these are my definitions and opinions. :)
Now on to kill stories. Put it to a guy in a Solstice, he thought he was so cool in his bugs bunny-esque car. I showed him. Seriously thought, I don't think he expected me to catch him after the ricer flyby he did on the highway. |

High horsepower shop queen...wait how long have I had my miata, and how much of its life has been on jackstands :gay: Anyway, the only kills you can talk about are the diffs you've borked. :) |
a few stock srt-4's, 99-04 Mustang GT's, foxbody 5.slows, a few C4 vettes. oh, and a few Solstice's too. that was on 8psi, will be up to 14psi by spring. a few weeks ago I beat up on a stock NB Miata in the Jeep too, straight-6 ftw.
|
There's a Cobalt SS around here that I embarrassed. Other than that not too much as I tend to play it safe on the street and the nearest dragstrip is 2 hours away :)
Still working on beating my wife's SRT4, should be easy when I return from Kuwait and unleash "round 2" on the Miata with my MS/FMIC/etc. |

I have a streetracing problem...... only girls try to streetrace me..... and I can't resist showing off...
|
so I smoked a stock v6 eclipse the other day at part throttle...... :)
|
Although irresponsible of course, I loved highway runs in the turbo vr6. My favorite was telling most lightly modded cumstand and camaros "lets run it agian and I'll leave it in 5th. hahaha
|
I beat a Miata once....with a hammer. ;)
|
my buddy just went apeshit on his VW passat wih a 5lb sledge last week..... he blew a tire and couldn't find his lug wrench in the trunk....... I think the car looks better now.....
