~29mpg last tank 3/4 highway, 1/4 local. 87 gas is only $2.73 in LA.

this car (n/a) is rockin' right now. of course i STILL don't have a/c, but that should be rectified by Sunday.

Heh, I should go fill mine up and see what I'm getting on the MS without any tuning . I think i'm at 200miles and half tank showing.

29 is not bad, I did 33mpg 3/4 highway 1/4 town with the top down the whole time and barn doors open most of the time. I'm sure someone's topped that even.

Now post GReddy kit install I'm getting 27 - 28 mpg and I'm in boost most of the time driving in the city.

Splitime, I think you're well on your way to 30+ mpgs on that tank. But then again the stock fuel gauge isn't known to be the most accurate thing in the world.

I'm averaging about 19.8 MPG city atm... NA. It ******* sucks. I used to get about 27. Fuel filter and air filter have both been changed. I put vice grips on the return line and hot wired the pump and checked for leaks... there were none. I want my MPGs back :(

Nevermind Arkmage, I found the reason, you need to keep your cat in the house and out of the car!

I just fabbed that pic up with paint.
Rage_Kage

Take off at 2k rpms just slip the clutch till vehicle speed matches.

Shift at 3k rpms and don't go above half throttle.

Keep the rpms between 2 and 3k. Try not to go below 1,800 rpms except in first gear because that would be considered bogging the motor which is bad.

Go the speed limit, I know its hard but I actually did 60 - 65 mph in a 70mph zone did to get 33mpg.

Leave the top up, not required but I'm sure it helps aerodynamic drag.

I have a vacuum/boost gauge and I try to keep more than 10 inches hg of vacuum while accelerating and cruising. (Of course only when I'm in economy mode)

I know this might seem slow as hell but it won't really matter how long it takes to get up to speed if you're just gonna stop for the next red light within a couple hundred feet anyways.

If you are running with your timing advanced, set it back to 10 degrees btdc.
Do all the basic maintenance things especially spark plugs and wires, make sure they're gapped correctly.

O2 sensor is a biggie too but I don't know if there is a way to test these single wire sensors unless it throws a check engine light.

I hope some of these tips help you!

yeah... I generally get about 29-31 highway. but my city is all fucked up. I expect 20 mpg (which is better than my current average) driving around on the rev limiter all day in town. It's only a 1.8L pushing a 2300 lbs car for ****'s sake. Where is my fuel going?

You like the boost! That's where your gas is going. Unless its just a more conservative (richer) tune?

Default Still NA?!?

'97 Black/Black, KYB AGX, MSnS-E Parallel Install, 2.25" Magnaflow/Flowmaster, Poly bushings, P&P Head, T3 .52/.48, NB BEGi Manifold, '99 EGR Tube (for manifold), JAW Wideband. Emissions Legal!
Still NA? Ok I was assuming you were talking about the car in your sig.

Unless you really drive it like you stole it, which isn't exactly possible with our Houston traffic, I don't see how it could be that bad.

Can't help ya there, but I do wish you the best of luck figuring out why though.

Maybe there is something I missed? How many miles on your motor?
