Cheaper Coolant Reroute Housing?
Has anyone ever attempted using a Moroso 63423 as a spacer rather than a cusom piece?
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...=&pgGrp=search I believe that by using this neck you could possibly eliminate the need for the Kia neck as well. |
The bolt spacing IS different but the spacing for the miata falls inside the holes for the Chebby.
2.65" for Miata 3.25" for the Spacer RockAuto shows the same dimension on the opening on the gaskets, but had no information on bolt spacing. |

$97 + $18 Begi + Kia Or $30 Moroso + Mazda Or $25 + $18 Spacer + Kia |
If you are going to be a cheap bastard you should have got a 1.6.

Then look in my thread, you don't need a thermostat housing or spacer if you don't mind it being ugly. If you take the head off at any point you can tap it directly for the heater core, too. Saturn CLT sensor in place of the cursed water plug. Doesn't get any better, 1.8 wishes they could be so slick lol

I used the $18 jackson racing spacer and cut a groove into it on the lathe. Then tapped a few holes for other stuff. Bout the cheapest way I could figure out how to do it without doing deezums, or building my own spacer from scratch. I also have pics in my build thread.
So the spacer I used was cheaper than the moroso. You can get it at moss miata by searching by part number. Edit: Also that shit looks wayyy to tall. There is no room back there. |

Also, looks like the wrong angle. Needs a plate to cover it, how do you get water to the heater core pre thermostat? That is the part that really wont work.

When searching for the part number listed in your thread 051-046 is not a valid part number on the site OR on the document referenced. Where to get Jackson Racing "spacer". - MX-5 Miata Forum http://www.mossmiata.com/graphics/pr...ns/901-980.pdf |

Because water needs to circulate through the engine while warming up. Thats just how it works.
Follow the instructions in that first link. I did it 30 seconds ago and it popped the $18 spacer into my cart. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1451352378 |

But why use the second shorter spacer if you still need the kia waterneck.

Ok it showed up today.... Its rather large.
Nothing ventured nothing gained. It "could" work but seems like a bit more work than other optiins. If i get bored enough this winter I will drill the holes in the proper position and test fit it. |
