Sheared thermostat sensor lead wire
My thermostat sensor lead wire is sheared off at the connector that clips to the sensor. There is no fragment of the wire coming from the connector that I can use to solder the two ends together. Does anybody know if
Can I just bypass the connector clip and attach the wire directly to the lead on the thermostat sensor as a temporary fix until I can source a new clip?
Thanks!

Sure Bruce, that would be appreciated.
I didn't think I'd be able to source a brand new one, but since I'll be picking up body panels this weekend from a salvage yard, I figured I could snip one off of a junker while I'm there. If you have one available, that would be better.

No worries Bruce. Thanks for looking.
I drove the car 40 miles round trip for an estimate last night with a banged up front end and the lead wire grounded without a problem. It's going into the shop on Saturday. The guy has 6 dead and semidead miatas parked out front. I'm sure he can hook me up.

I just pulled the connector out and used some small tin snips to cut enough plastic off until I could solder in a good piece of wire. Then I painted it with a few coats of liquid electrical tape. It's been okay for a couple of months anyway.
Mazda won't sell you the connector because it's "part of the harness." Though I imagine you can get it somewhere, since other cars use that model of thermoswitch.
