Climb_on's build thread...
Well guys i guess we all have to start somewhere. After 2 years of tinkering with honda's and countless auto-x's, i decided to get a miata. It was between finding something nice and keep it completly stock(aka the no fun plan) or find something cheap and build it into something i can be proud of.
Not only is this my first miata this also my first forced induction car.
This is what $1200 got me, 1991 with 142k miles
Obviously paint is bad but the body is suprisingly straight.
Oh did i mention it was already boosted...
Car had a water leak that was quickly fixed with a new lower radiator hose. drove the car around for about a week now, runs pretty good and car can move!( that is when the clutch isnt slipping in high rpm)
Car is now in the garage getting torn down, so stay tuned.
Did i mention I'm about 15min away from the BEGi shop.

I'm located in NorthEast San Antonio, where 1604 & I35 intersects
(if anyone is interested in helping out, i'll be mighty greatfull)
Future plans include ditching ac & ps along with anything else i feel i dont need. motor seemed very healthy compression test showed 180,180,165,165psi. So for now just plan on replacing most gaskets. New clutch kit and lighten the stock flywheel.
Ditching the greddy kit for the begi stage one(i think).
3in exhaust and no cat.
New rotors, pads, lines as far as brakes go.
Paint the damn thing and drive the crap out of it.
Once i start finding the flaws on the stock suspension i'll start dealing with that.

Some updates from the last few days. Nothing too impressive just started tearing down the engine bay. Removed entire ac, ps pump & resoirvouir, entire turbo minus dp, cruise, radiator & fans, and the random IC that was just hanging out there.
turbo coming out
Anyone interested in a greddy turbo kit??
PS out
AC out (along with the random IC)
As far as removal goes still need to remove all the ac and heater components from under the dash, along with the PS lines still in the engine bay.
Motor is super filthy needing a good power washing, looking at it now im wondering if it'll be easier to do the clutch and replace the gaskets with the motor out all together....any imput??

I have not been home since June, so no movement. However I am taking 3-weeks off work to get everything together and get it to the track. It will be tuned and done by 9/18. That should will be the install, tuning, the splitter, brake ducting, oil cooler, catch can, hood vent (hopefully painted), additional track seat, 3.90 rear end for my 5-speed, and maybe even some 6UL's.

Jeff UTSYCO is a good guy!
climb_on, sorry for getting off () topic. If you hate your taillights I'll trade you, I obviously don't really care what my car looks like. My car is gay already.

Back to topic here. Tired of getting dirty working on the bay and dont have the cash for the new parts yet, so going to start gutting the interior. Me being 6'3" the driver configuration has to be figured out. Probably go with the sparco spring seat. Had a hard time finding seat rails for the miata, who makes them?
Regarding the motor, considering im planing on doing the clutch and replacing major gaskets here and there. Might as well pull the motor?
