Hell, the government says he's entitled to it too. Otherwise he wouldn't be getting the help.

It's just not in my make up to hold my hand out and expect others to pay my way. I'd have to be living under a bridge and eating out of garbage cans before I would.

Braineack 06-30-2009 03:50 PM

He's been going to school, living on raman, and working long hours after classes, give him a break.

Braineack 06-30-2009 03:53 PM

god i love the government, they are such enablers:

The Nebraska man who abandoned his nine children under the state's Safe Haven law last year is expecting to become the father of twins, FOXNews.com has learned.

Gary Staton, 37, became a single father in February 2007 when his wife, RebelJane, died of a cerebral aneurysm shortly after giving birth to the couple's ninth child. Unable to handle the burden alone, Staton made national news more than a year later on Sept. 24 when he dropped off his children — ages 1 to 17 — at a hospital in Omaha. According to the law at the time, parents could hand children up to age 18 over to state custody without prosecution. Legislators would later amend the law to limit its reach to infants up to 30 days old.

Stein 06-30-2009 03:57 PM

/\ Gotta love this state. Well, he will have 30 days to do it all over again...

I don't know what they were thinking when they started the law at age 18. I do know that lots of parents here would be yelling at the kids in the WalMart that they will drop them off at the state if they don't behave when that law was on the books. Quality individuals.

Nine fucking kids? Was he trying to start a revolution? I guess he's branching out and starting with new genetic stock.

He should be shot for abandoning these kids. Bet you follow their lives from now until they are adults and it'll be a sad story indeed.

As a parent (human being) shit like this kills me.

You completely miss the point about what the problem is. Turbo is just one of millions of Americans who have no fear. The USA is a welfare state... not as bad as Australia, but no man or woman upon reaching the age of 18 in this country has to do anything other than sit on their ass to make a decent living... have a place to live, plenty of food on the table, cable, transportation, make babies, pay no taxes, smoke weed... the gov't will hand you money your entire life and you don't even have to get off the couch. These aren't small loopholes or hidden funds that a few people have managed sneak past the system and have a free ride... this is millions upon millions of people that the rest of us keep fat and happy. You're either in favor of this or you're not. It's that simple.

If you're not, then you should be in favor of a national birth control program and pregnancy licensing, eliminating all aid or any kind for illegal immigrants tripling the annual budget for the Border Patrol, a complete welfare overhaul, a national flat-tax, and the death penalty for people who abuse animals.

I have followed this thread from the beginning. Something just does not fit. The author just comes off a relationship from a cheating gf. Then gets a new one impregnated right away? No safe sex? Wtf? I had a live in girl friend for a few years. As I grew up and out, she didn’t. I spent two years trying to find a way to get rid of her. She finaly found a life of her own and moved out. Then two months later she comes back and tells me she is pregnant, and it is mine. She told me she stopped the pill two months before she left and the baby was mine. I told her that I would take reasonability and take care of him and her but I was not committed to a relationship, and would move on. After his birth she met someone and left. I went to court and claimed my parental rights. In Florida, at this time, you needed a court order to be claimed as the father, if not married. I received full custody, she got visitation rights. In Florida. Custody gets automatic child support (min $125 month, 1987).
My advice #1 if you are the father claim your rights, if you’re not married. #2 demand custody. Yea it seems shity to be a single father with a kid, but real chicks dig it. #3 demand child support.
In ending with this rant, I think the OP IS FULL OF SHIT. This whole thread, and the one about the ex-----BS

high on my priority list would be taking a step back and wondering why i'm going to school to eventually make almost 20k/year. why? now i'm not the greatest and am hardly using my degree, but i did work my ass off, i made over 20k/year while in college full time. I detailed cars at a mercedes dealer that i starting working at in 97 while in high school, they were very flexible with my hours and was able to work more by taking a couple night classes per semester and during the summer. Looking back it was actually kind of fun taking 15 credits and working 40 hours a week, even managed to have some fun in my free time.

my point is mininum wage come 7/24 will be $7.25 with 40 hours comes to 15k/year....20k/years is 9.62/hour.

now i wouldn't go an drop out of school but maybe study some other useful things or just do something different when you graduate, for your baby's sake.

on a positive note, last night i scheduled my final student loan payment for tomorrow paid 100% on my own. this also isn't anything all that remarkable but it's a great feeling doing it on my own without handouts.

Gotta have a paternity test first. If you're not married, have no intention of getting married, get a chick pregnant, and decide not have a paternity test because you're afraid she'll think you're an asshole, then good on her. She was probably fucking half your crew and decided for some odd reason you showed the most promise... congrats dad!

Congrats man, it's an accomplishment that evades a lot of people for many years because it is so easy to put if off.

thanks man, i wasn't about to put it off. i graduated in 03 but didn't start making payments till 04. What's great is they only wanted $92 a month for 20 years:fawk:. there's no way that was gonna happen since i loathe debt so now it's gone:beer: what really helped was paying my 2nd year in full from working and payming about half of my 3rd and 4th years as i went so it really reduced my loans at the end. now if i could just make it pay off like everyone said it would.....

Turbo_4 07-01-2009 11:37 PM

And I'm back...Been busy and shit with work/school...and it looks like ya'll have been busy with this thread. Rather than just working 5 days a week and school, now I work seven.

I think it's also time to get a few things straight. I really didn't even bother reading a lot of the angry posts on here because each one seemed to start off with some sort of misinformation...or taking what I'm saying out of context. At what point in time did I say anything about pilots making 20k a year? Okay, if you are still following...try to actually absorb what I'm saying here...You have to start out at the BOTTOM to work your way to the...you guessed it...TOP!!! I said I would start out flight instructing which pays shit and eventually through years of working my way up the ladder get paid the big bucks. Senior captians make well over 100k a year...come on now.

Now regarding my situation and "sucking the tit of the government..." I literally have nothing, lol. I have no big screen or new computer or really anything nice. All my shit is hand-me-down, and I shop at goodwill for literally everything. Even pre-baby, it was like this. I'm barely scraping through school money wise period. The government, for the most part, doesn't hand out money to people with money or real assests, that's why I can claim. Sorry but the government doesn't consider a 97 or 01 miata a real asset. They consider someone who makes less than a G a month and has over a G a month worth of bills so be poor...kind of makes sense.

My family wise...lol...I come from a very good family which, to everyone's sad dissappointment...is not on any government aid. My Dad makes what I make in a month in two hours, lol. My Mom makes the price of my two miatas in a day. My grandparents aren't even on wellfare! I was raised right though and when I moved out, actually had to fend for myself and make my shit work. If that involves using government assistance through some tough times, then sure...I'm going to do it. I'm not a crackhead on the streets claiming a check so I can keep my addiction.

Sorry if my posts get farther between but I literally have no time at all. I actually washed the 01 last night at almost midnight, when I got off work. Now I have to cram for my psych test tomorrow! Peace!
