Coolant Fitting on VVT Block
2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
Does anyone know what size the fitting is on the rear outlet of a VVT is? https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1399815572 It's the circled hole in the bottom left of the outlet that you can see in the image. I'd be very thankful, as solving that solves a major problem in my build. |
That's the coolant temp gauge sensor bung, there should be a block off on there. I think it's an M12x1.25.
|
If it's a coolant temp sensor, isn't it M12x1.5?
|
Correction, it's 1/8 BSP, not M12 as per http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=228741
|
The only problem with the above is that it looks physically too large for 1/8 BSP in the head.
Can anyone confirm? |
Verified with a tap, it is a 1/8 BSP hole.
On an interesting note, the position is perfect for the coolant sensor if you simply drill and tap that same exact location. Bit of a tight fit, but hey, we here at MT.net are all about tight fits in holes, amirite? |
Yes, its almost like it's a perfect spot for a coolant temp gauge sensor. Almost.
|
I have a 1/8NPT coolant temp sender in there.
|
Should be 1/8 NPT. That's where the factory gauge sender in NAs goes. I run coolant temp senders there in most of the VVT swaps I've done.
