Cooling system "leak" (river)
 

1990 Greddy Turbo 5-Spd....

If you look at yoour heater hoses where they are coming out of the firewall....the hose on the drier's side is my problem. Where it finally connects into the engine (after it goes through the metal tubing in the attached picture) has popped out somehow...i'm just wondering how the hell this tubing is suppost to stay in the water pump since there are no fittings or anything there to speak of. Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated.

There is an O'Ring on the tube diameter and the tube is held forced into the water manifold by the bracket that attaches to your exhaust manifold bolt.

Knew that tube looked familiar, must've forgotten to put it under the turbo manifold when we did the install about a week ago (i've driven over 550 miles since then so why did it just now pop out?

Must have been a strong O'ring. Check it closely for nicks if you are going to try to re-use it. The clamp goes on top of the manifold, under the nut.

Top of the manifold? i thought i remembered it being on the botome row of nuts.

Bottom row of nuts, but on top of the manifold, under the nut. There is only one location it can go, but there is a member that put it between the block and manifold and had a "little" exhaust leak.

Gosh, who would be STUPID enough to do THAT! What an IDIOT! :)

Oh, wait....that would be me. :sadwavey: (After taking the manifold/turbo off about 10 times when working on a larger DP fab.)

To actually add something of value, make sure you get an OEM gasket if you get a new one as I replaced it with one from NAPA in a crunch and it continued to ooze until I replaced it with an OEM gasket.

Trust me Bruce, I guarantee that Phil and John were chomping at the bit to ridicule me back then, but they held back because they saw that I was at my wits end at the time. :)

Plus, everyone need a good ribbing and humbling experience now and again. Such as how to make full power at the dyno...;)

At least I can laugh about it now that the car is up and running. :)

You know what's even stupider than him putting it under the manifold? me rushing into "fixing" things and not waiting to hear all the replies and doing the same damn thing.....atleast i only got four of the manifold nuts back on before i realized "oh fuck, i'm gonna have one hell of an exhaust leak this way" oh well, i din't have much else to do today, all's good now, thanks again guys.

P.S. fell free to laugh at me, i don't mind, i'm still laughing at myself.

The tube probably popped apart because the mounting bracket did not fit properly over the exhaust manifold bolt. Prior to assembly suggest a bit of grinding on the bracket for a better fit.

Nope....we just never put it back on, LOL
