Cracked tranny turret

1 Attachment(s)
As i was installing the engine today in my 90 project car. I was in the process of lining up the shifter turret and the opening in the cab. As i was doing this there was stress put on the turret and i saw fluid leaking  . Grabbed a flashlight and saw this ( i pulled the engine out and snapped a pic )

SO basically i need to take off the turret and replace it with a new one from another transmission.

Is there a writeup on how to?

Do i have to take off the transmission tail?

Help please!

Can't help with that, but here's a tip.... Take the shifter off for installing the tranny

you should be able to remove it without taking the tail section off

mate look at the diagram i posted see where it say New (9) you have to remove the pin in the shaft then the housing should slide off

sorry mate, but that pin is a knock out type, get a puch or bar of the same size as the pin and knock it threw, i did a test run on a spare box and it turns out you need to pull the whole remote housing off, once you have undone the bolts and cracked the gasket you need to twist the housing clock wise to release the shaft. once that done you can remove the shaft and then the shifter housing should come away (remember the oil)

i hope this helps

Cheers
Dr.
