I like the stock mani dyno better

Do you have your soft cut set at 7000RPM?

JayL 02-16-2010 08:58 AM

Knock threshold set too low so it was pulling timing and adding fuel, oops.

Braineack 02-16-2010 09:04 AM

Look like it has potential up top if you can sort that out. I'm actually surprised with the comparison, I wonder how much the gearing comes into play? I'm sure the extra 30 lbs at before 4K feels nice driving around on the street, but I'm not sure there's any benefit for your particular application.

When I switched to 3.63 gears and started to run the Mickey Thompson tires it felt noticeably faster because I had traction in every gear, but on the dyno there was a huge loss in power. I'm going to see if I can find a run after the change, but before the meth and get a print out today.

As for it feeling better, not really. I'm back to running RS2s and I don't have any traction until 4th gear. Those Mickey Thompsons really spoiled me.

I would have thought torque would keep climbing, or atleast stay level, up top.

Thanks for the real world proof though.

Sucks to be you!

Got a low boost map to use for the street? You might want a low boost map too if you decide to take some of the corners Pacific Raceway offers instead of just running the 1/4.

Ok, last night I went through a ton of old logs and dyno charts to find one that would be a better comparison. This afternoon I came across run number 80 and it is going to be as close as I can get so we printed run 80 with run 122 from yesterday. The only changes between the runs are the intake manifold, q45 throttle body, and tires. My knock threshold intruded after 6800 and pulled timing and added fuel on run 122. Besides this, the timing was identical and both pulls were with 3.63 gears. This is as close as it will get for a comparison and better represents the differences this particular setup made.

This is the low boost map.

dc2696 02-16-2010 07:20 PM

Ah, that looks better.

cueball1 02-16-2010 08:30 PM

That is a huge gain. Woot woot!

gospeed81 02-16-2010 09:09 PM

WOW!

Way to hold on to that torque...
