That only goes so far though. All that unfinished crap where the rear bumper used to be is just plain ugly. This is beautiful and should look familiar too!!!

yeah, but if it doesn't have a flat bottom it does nothing.

I like that too. Stripped and extreme mods for aero don't have to be unfinished. In fact unfinished and wide open likely isn't as aerodynamic as something like this one that is finished off and gives the air more smoothing. I'm sure with Savington that the bare ass his car is currently sporting isn't the final answer. I'll bet there is something more like this car in the works now or in the near future.

That's why I also bought the mid section from an Elise. With a front splitter going in and more aluminum tacked underneath mine will not be extreme looking but should be much smoother. I imaging Pass is planning something underneath also.

cueball- Love it. More pics? How was it made, or what was it stolen from?

Michael

ThePass did a whole write up on his Elise diffuser in Sam Amporful's aero thread. Here is a link right to the page his pics are on...

https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t34522-4/

I have an Elise diffuser mounted up also, just not cut nearly as high as his. Working on the other stuff to go with it currently.

I wanna see yours with your bumper back on. Any pics of that yet?

Actually the aero was designed by an aerodynamacist who works for at least 2-big name teams. You'd shit if you saw his eclipse.

Do not ever question me again.

I must have missed where he questioned you. :jerkit:

+1!

Not that I don't want to but I don't know what I would question you about. Um, the weather maybe?!? I was questioning the unfinished nature of Sav's lack of a bumper. Maybe you missed the part where I said I liked the car you posted up?

Wayne, Still not quite happy with mine. Wanna cut it up slightly higher and also paint it black. Here's a quicky shot of it currently. Only takes a couple minutes to take it on and off, just haven't gotten it done yet. The angle of the center part of diffuser is slightly less than the angle of the lower part of the bumper skin. The outside sections are a slightly greater angle.

My bumper was previously hacked up for a second exhaust cutout, man is it ugly. I may have to do what you guys have done here, cut the whole bottom off. Looks pretty mean.

I don't have any fancy stuff, just sliced the bottom portion off.

TheBandit 07-05-2009 12:27 AM

kotomile - anymore pics? Maybe like a rear 3/4 view.. It looks really nice from this view, but curious what it looks like from a more normal pov. Slick lookin btw.

Thanks
Michael

Damn, looks great....What did ya'll use? A dremmel?

apariah 07-05-2009 01:48 AM

Thats what I was going to ask, and was the bumper removed from the car?

I used my HF jigsaw on the bumper skin, and the sawzall on the bumper itself, and on the two tabs that hang down from the frame. For the pattern, I printed out FM's dual-exhaust template and simply cut it out and the portion of the bumper between the two cutouts.

I'll try to get a few more tomorrow, thanks for the compliments!
