Had no idea so many people had done this kind of thing. I cut mine a while back to accomodate the center exit. Eyeballed it and did it with a dremel, lol. Came out symmetrical enough to get by.

Thanks, I thought that's how everyone had done it until I saw this thread and saw the tabs hanging down. Those things weigh about 10 lbs and don't do anything unless you need them for a tirebar or a small autox trailer.
Here's the 3/4 shot as requested, and a couple others. |

So did you finally get the car out to Cali with you Koto...sorry if I'm way late on this topic, know you're re-classing right now and last I heard your dad (?) was taking care of her in Florida.
|
Yep, I had it shipped to me out here. If all goes to plan, next stop is TX so I'll be driving this thing out there and from there to wherever I'm supposed to go next. I'm not really looking forward to driving this thing that long...

I'm sure with Savington that the bare ass his car is currently sporting isn't the final answer. I'll bet there is something more like this car in the works now or in the near future.

Thanks Sweet Pea!
Now sign up for ORP on the 27th and show us NWers what a truly fast Miata can do! You'll likely inspire Curly to go further with his track only car. |

Yeah you're partially right, the stock exhaust was so bad before I took it off that it cracked and melted the finish panel a bit. I also was hit on the DS corner so the quarter panel tab under the DS taillight pushed against the panel and made it worse. I relieved some of that pressure but it's still a bit buckled. I wonder if a little time with a heat gun is the ticket to flattening it back out...

looks nice man.
I found the remainder of the bumper skin to be a bit too floppy. I might be bolting or riveting it to the bumper support to make it a little sturdier and flex less at higher speeds. Still need to rattle can the muffler flat black too.. |
That center exit on blownroadsters car looks great. Gives me an idea...

Good thing the newb bumped this thread so I didn't have to. Its easy to make a straight line on the bumper. We took a piece of stiff cardboard (from a box of MRE's), bent the end to slide on the ridge in the bumper, then put a bow in the cardboard to contour the bumper. From that point, we were able to slide the cardboard across the bumper with a Sharpie on the bottom.

I've painted the exhaust black since taking this pic.

I need to redo mine. Somehow I didn't cut a straight line....

I wonder what these bumper cut-out's would look with a rear diffuser..hmm.

That looks sweet. Unfortunately, it would not last 3 weeks on my car, before I drug it off. |
