Default Damn Door Latch

The door latch on my old school 1990 has started to fail... not all together yet but close.. some times when i go to open it, it feels like its locked.. but its not. And the weird part if i press in on the door a bit.. it opens. Anyone had anything like this?

Woohoo.......Dukes of Hazzard style.

The door mechanism is an absolute bear to work on. I locked my keys in the car once, and the officer that came to slimjim the door broke the door locking mechanism on my passenger side door, so i had to fix it myself. It involved completely removing the window and the aft window rail, and then i could just barely get to it.

I'm still waiting on that tiny pair of asian hands i ordered from Harbor Freight 6 years ago. Sure would come in handy here, no pun intended.

If you find when you pull the handle, it doesn't engage the lock, try this:

Pull the door skin.... and in behind the plastic, you should see the door handle. There's a large philips head screw there that holds a spring mechanism .... try to tighten the screw. That helped with mine.....
