I switched out to the manual rack on my v12 miata. It seems to turn easier than the PS rack(no power). I switch mostly because the manual rack is smaller and I was able to mount it farther up than the ps rack. Also the manual rack tubing is steel, which allowed me to weld my own brackets to the rack.

O.K. I'll post a couple... even though it's a Mazda forum...
I bought the car in east Texas ...rust-free ...now has a 5.0 installed with Trick-Flow alum. heads and rollers... 3.54 posi, upgraded to 4 wheel disks...fenders are slightly flared so has room for the 245/50 14's on the back...
I've heard people say that the dimensions of the car are very similar to a Miata including wheelbase etc. ...

Thanks man, that thing is beautiful. I must admit, Get Smart was my first exposure to that car and while I was VERY young at the time I defiantly fell in love with it..

Always was of the opinion it'd be one of those cars I could never really afford, they only made around 7100 afterall... I bet its fast as **** with those mods!

All things equal, it should. I don't recall the actual ratios, but the manual is about 10% slower than the PS rack. I.E. 4.1 turns vs 3.8 turns so it would be easier to turn.

I did the FM style De power, I like it alot. Gives alot better feedback!

My rack depowered the FM way exploded, so i put a new one in and looped the lines, the difference is marginal at most..
