Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific in my original post. I could barely get the car to start and get into a parking spot under its own power after it died. I will check for spark while cranking when I have someone around to give me a hand (turn the key).

good luck with figuring it out wish i could help you out, but my car isn't turbo'd but when i had this problem one of the teeth came out of my afm plug in..

Now that I think more about it I am starting to wonder if it could be my CAS. I had similar symptoms a few years ago when I put my car back on the road in the spring. Back then I did manage to get it started, barely, a couple of times and then it would not start at all. Back then I was stock and I used the check engine light code to diagnose my issue. Now, with the Link ecu my check engine light is a badly positioned, un-noticable shift light.

Could be the CAS. I had similar symptoms before my first CAS died while running parallel MSI on my NB. The car didnt sputter or anything, its just stopped going. I bought a new another one, and it fired back right up after some time of trying to figure out the damn problem (i was thinking fuel pump too). I just recently took it out cause im now using stock sensors.

Those things are like a ticking time bomb with an unknown time set. I know of several people that have 1-2 spares in the care of those just in case theirs died. I have one just sittin in my garage now, it's for a 94-97, but i don't know if its interchangeable with the 89-93 year cars, i.e. different harness plug.

they are all interchangable. The only dif is optical vs mech pickup the later yrs being mech.

Ah I see, I knew they were identcal, cause they both fit on 99's, but I had no idea if they were the same harness plug or not. If youre going to replace it, go with the later years cause they happen to be more sturdy.

are you running with or without AFM?

Are you getting flow through the exhaust system? Have you throw a pressure gauge on the fuel line? Can you hear the pump running? If you are getting exhaust flow and you can hear the pump running then the odds are probly its crapped out.

If you can't hear the fp then you could try to run a 12v pos to the pump and hotwire If this works then you need to look at the FP relays etc, or just run a nice hot wire through a toggle switch to power it.

If you aren't getting exhaust flow then your cat is probly clogged and you can simply unbolt it and try to start the car agian and see if it is fixed.

If you can hear the fp and you get exhaust flow then the next thing i would do is clamp down on the return line with a pair of pliers. Make sure to take a rag etc to cushion the sharp metal teeth though cause you dont want leaks. If this helps then your fpr could be blown out.

It seems that somehow my Link settings got changed WHILE I was driving my car. I have a MK2 map sensor and the default is MK1. All I had to do was change it back to MK2 and the car fired right up:facepalm: I'm releaved and pissed at the same time. At least I know where to start next time.

Has anyone else ever heard of this happening?
