Default MSM aftermarket ecu and OEM immobiliser

Please move if required.

I have a standalone in an MSM and the immobiliser icon flashes intermittently.
I assume the OEM ecu run the immobiliser?
How do I remove the flashing icon without removing the light itself?
What is everyones solution in regards to this?
How does the adaptronic handle this issue?

Thanks,
Dann

Hi Dann,

I fitted a standalone Adaptronic Select to an SE last week and it didn't flash the immobiliser light, not sure how it is done but the ignition barrel gets isolated even if the ECU is taken out of the equation as far as I know.

On my own early NB the immobiliser light flashed so I removed the bulb, it also runs an Adaptronic but it is an early standalone Select prototype, so I can't be sure if all early NB models are all like this.

Cheers

What do you mean the ignition barrel get isolated?

I need to figure out how to turn it off without hardware changes.

I had totally forgotten about that flashing light. I think I ended up pulling the bulb. I am curious why you do not want to pull the bulb.

I JUST installed an AEM EMS-4 and having the same issue....takes a while sometimes but flashing light starts and can get annoying while driving.

Planning on pulling bulb if someone doesn't have a solution here.

Didn't flash on the old MS2e

Flashed on Hydra for me. Didn't flash with Haltech. Not sure what the patch harness difference was.

There's an immobilizer box, which needs to be kept with the ECU, the two talk to each other, and if they don't like what they see, it flashes.

I'd start by finding the immobilizer box under the dash and unplugging it. Might be like an airbag light though, and just be on constantly, or flash a different code, not sure.

Could you just cut the damn power wire to that light, then solder back together if you go back to stock? I know thats what I did for my CEL way back in the day on my MS1.

If you track down whomever has my old MSM, the answer is there.

I've heard of other megasquirts having this problem. My Rev built unit doesn't flash. I think I saw somewhere saying Rev does something to make this not happen when he builds the unit.

I have a Rev MS2e on my MSM and the immobilizer light does flash. I asked Rev about it way back when I got it and he told me to just remove the bulb. Why do you not want to just remove the bulb? It is by far the easiest solution.

I want to sell a product that just plugs right in and does everything it needs to on its own.

The CAN-enabled Enhanced MS2s control the immobilizer, so no flashing lights there. Ryan is the only one who posted with a non-CAN Enhanced MS2.

Does the immobilizer actually WORK, or does it just not have a blinking error light?

I wonder if Rev can explain this further...or sell separate solder-in unit.
