Default Don't use AM/PM gas.

Filled the tank up yesterday. I now have detonation for the first time on this motor.

Sigh.

10.8 gallons of slow driving.

I forget what happened, but I was forced to use Kroger gas one time. Same result. :(
I ended up siphoning it out about 1/2 way through the tank and putting some good fuel in there. I couldn't take it anymore, I didn't go through tanks fast enough. lol

You spent all that money on your setup and cheap out when it comes time to fill the tank. Stop being a cheap *** and spend the extra a nickel a gallon to get some quality gasoline.

They're a California-based chain, similar to Circle K or 7-11. Their advertised fuel prices are typically much lower than other stations in the market, however if you pay with plastic you are forced to run it as an ATM transaction, with a service charge added.

AM/PM as in BP? Used to be good stuff. I've never had any problems.

Go to the paint supply store and get a gallon of touluene. Add to tank. Enjoy.

Default octane booster

I had to ad an octane booster when Georgia ran out of all fuel except for 87 last year. I added this stuff from, believe it or not, the paint store to boost the octane. I cannot remember what it was now but I will try to find what it was and send it out. They also have octane booster at pep boys but it was more expensive. I had to do this for a couple weeks, good luck.

7/11 for me. I dyno'd on it and there's a nice one by my house.

I dyno'd on AAFES gas for this reason. This way, chances are the gas in my tank after any given fillup is better than what was used to make my spark map. That's my logic anyway.

I try to stick with Shell.. and avoid QT/Race Track/Raceway (basically the huge stations). I've been happy on Shell. Our AM/PM stations here use BP products.

About a dozen local BP's here got caught a few years ago buying an inferior gas from another wholesaler and selling it as BP gas. Once BP found out, they shut them all down. The station owners were all out the next day painting over the BP signs but they kept selling gas, although not under the BP name.

I had bought my 93 octane from several of them over the years, but I never got any bad gas. I must have been lucky and bought my gas when they happened to be pumping BP.

Since I keep getting asked....

Recipe for redneck race gas:
89% premium 93 octane
10% toluene
1% paint thinner
2 ounces ATF

Resultant: 95 octane race gas.
However toluene has anti detonation properties that exceed its octane rating. It's the fuel that Honda ran in its 80s F1 turbo motor. Something like 5bar and 1000hp out of 1.5L.
The thinner is a solvent, cleans fuel deposits.
ATF is a lubricant. Some people say it's not necessary.

If you run 20% toluene with a tank of premium, it's 97 octane.

Figures assume 10 gal tank, just to make the calculations easy.

I googled toluene after I read your first post. Wiki says it nonlubricativeness is the reason its not used more. I'd say the ATF is a good choice.

Also, I prefer Delta Sonic, or Noco gas. Mobile doesnt seem to like my cars, and cost 10cents more for the same stuff.
