I should be swapping out the bottom end for the cheaply built one this weekend so we make get to make a another few runs with the built block. Fuel is my issue now though :(

What are your injectors and fuel pump? Stock regulator and all that shit?

IIRC the Hydra had horrible drivability with the ALS on (does it even have a rotational idle mode?). Start mild with +12% fuel, and timing at 20deg ATDC (not to be confused with BTDC). I wouldn't suggest going further than 30deg ATDC or your EGT's are going to get scary real fast. The Miata idle control motor is probably sufficient but your big turbo will need a lot of kick so just open it all the way. I have to jack the throttle open a bit on the DSM, but I don't use ALS often on the Miata. The amount of air it lets in when you are off the throttle determines the overall agressiveness. The short runner manifold shouldn't cause stuff to blow up (but I take NO responsibility). Tune it for a staccato sound when you lift throttle and not huge fiery explosions.

For reference, the DSM with a small 16g idles at around 3500 without the rotational idle, the idle control motor all the way open, and the throttle jacked open about 5%. If you have to mess with the throttle, remember the TPS calibration.

fuck all that. Im just gonna beat the shit out of it as hard as i can :)

You run a hydra? What version? You have a few options, not just anti-lag that might help a lot. Top one I am thinking of is flat shift and second is traction control. I set that shit up and it is a lot of fun. Kapow bang kaboom etc.

You're really running ALS on your miata? With the autronic?

Hell yeah, but I only kick it on for the novelty in the Miata really. I'll try to take some video soon.
The 2560 spools fast enough at high revs, and it's not worth sketchy brake boost and loss of engine braking for autocross. I can use it for launch control too, but I can easily spin the r-comps on hot concrete so it's not necessary. I use it on the DSM for hard AWD launches, and fast open rallycross courses where I'm not on the brakes constantly.

Not much to look at:
Attachment 190573

I whooped everybody at the last event by 14 seconds overall, and some kid wanted to see what I had under the hood. I opened it and it was horrible. Leaves, mud, spider webs, and oil blown all over the place from the leaky valve cover, LOL.

MOD LIST, BOO!

Factory SMIC, hose from rear window washer to spray it down. Turn signal flasher on the sprayer motor to make it last more than 2 minutes. Evans waterless coolant to deal with the crazy overheating, factory air to air oil cooler, original bottom end with 190K, small 16g from a Galant VR4 (22-24psi), Some fancy Iron-Ceramic clutch that kicks ass, HKS 264/272 cams, 680cc injectors, Autronic SMC ECU, 2.5" downpipe that goes up to 3" behind the gearbox, skateboard bearings on the shifter cables, some shitty chinese O2 Elminator that I keep having to reweld, two 1/8" skidplates welded together for 1/4" after I destroyed my first 1/8" on a rock, $12 blingy wheels with 195 Falcon RS01D gravel tires, and an interior that was destroyed when some stupid thief tried (and failed) to take my 15 year old POS Pioneer radio. Other crap too but it's lunchtime.

pusha 03-04-2011 01:08 PM

sounds like a fun car man, good call on the 10AE's 5-speed swap mang.

leatherface24 03-04-2011 02:33 PM

My engine is making 21HG at idle however I am starting to hear nice little noises that werent there before. I think yesterdays brake boosting fun may have started to drive a few more nails in the coffin for this engine lol

Looks like an important descision is going to have to be made:

1. Blow up the motor while racing Jake
or
2. Blow up on the dyno

18psi 03-04-2011 02:48 PM

blow up while racing Jake.

Beat Jake's ass like a bongo drum, then blow up on the dyno after posting an epic HP # for a stock engine. We need to know all the whorezpowerz you make.

Bro this is the real deal.

Flora, This is my friend's nissan 240sx with an LS1 turbo swap 11psi on a t76 with a t56 6 speed on the floor. Painless wiring harness, painless stand alone pcm. Turnkey tuned.
No traction 1st, traction on half 2nd on 26 inch slicks 10 wide.
Its a street car it rides on drag radials most of the time.

This 240 raced a local miata with an LS1/2 swapped car from a dig and it dipped on it at the local 1/8th mile track.

I know of another one thats even quicker. All in San Diego Cali. West Coast !

My buddy is setting up his Evo 8 to race a tuned viper in the near future.

ViperorMiata, Let Nyce1s know about you if you all fast like that. I am just letting you know what I see and whats real.
