Rather big update:
The car is back in my possession!!! And BOY! DID THE CAGE TURN OUT SEXY OR WHAT!
Andy did a great job on the cage. Top is still functional and all. Check out the fitment of the door bars against the doors. Couldnt be happier with the final product.

To keep the cage from rusting, I went straight to work on painting the interior. Cleaned 29 years of dirt, dust, hair, french fries, etc from the car and went to town with some red scotch brite on the floors, firewall, cage, etc.

Bed liner on the firewall and trans tunnel. Followed up with primer on the cage and floors.

So it is all primered now. Next step is painting the cage & interior with final color, painting the trunk, and engine bay. Another couple days and it will be finished.

While Ive been working on that, my Engine Block has been at Terry's Machine Shop. Check out this video we put together of the beginning stages of our engine builds at Panda:

Once that is back, more painting- this is kinda getting redundant lol- and then engine assembly.
Wont be terribly long though before this project comes together and is running.

Check out our other toy:

Oh you cut the firewall. I thought you didn't and had the motor above the rack. I guess I'm still the only person to fit one without cutting the firewall.

I didnt want it sticking out of the hood and I wanted the engine to be as far back as possible. This is mid-engine at this point and I think will help with some future goals.
But for right now, its gunna be pretty sleeper with a 24.5" slick on a standard 15x9 wheel in the back and factory ride height and a convertible top. No bling on the outside.

I came expecting an eco-modded Miata that was going for max MPG...found something very different! Looks awesome so far can't wait to see more.

Nice cage- I'm trying to figure out what the one I'm getting put in should look like.

Can you elaborate on the door bar design? They look pretty low- is the idea for easy ingress/egress? Or is it just to sit under the arm-rests on the oem doorcards?

The mzr/duratec/ecoboost are very similar but the ecoboost is superior. Direct Injection and the combustion chamber design is nice but a turbo duratec will make good power too. The tuning strategies used with the ecoboost give you more tuning features than you can think of.

I wanted them low to help getting in and out.
i did not want to cut the doors or door panels so that is the best solution we found. It's pretty nice and if I want to get it certified down the road, all I need is anti intrusion bars and to raise the upper door bar about an inch higher.

Have fun fitting a seat in there, might need to rethink the door bars. Great looking build though.

Where to pick back up on.
to stay up to track the best, you guys can follow the build on Facebook: here’s a link to my recent post-
Facebook Post

anyway, the engine was finished being assembled, I ordered a bunch of the wiring bits, and I’ve completed some small odds and ends off th list.

engine was built here at Panda Motorworks,
i got the dash cut and in, painted the engine bay, made some new brake lines for the new firewall, and milled some remote mounted shifter parts.

Lots of good updates to come, but the past couple months have been slow with school and work.

Not much of an update, just been slaving away on wiring. Luckily that seems to be coming to an end. Ill attach my youtube channel so you guys can keep up to date with both the EcoYata and my other projects ive been working on. Just finished painting my girlfriends miata. CTSV Glacier White Metallic edition Pearl.

Anyway, treadstone TR1045 intercooler and their largest oil cooler just got delivered today along with a pretty slick oil filter housing and oil thermostat for the cooler. A bunch of the parts are just awaiting to be installed once wiring is finished. Injectors, Injector controllers, Fuelab Fuel System, Cosmis Racing Wheels, Silvers NA Coilovers, Action Clutch, etc.
