Needs 15x10s with 275s, you'd think twice before calling anything dually with that setup.

You either took my comment way too seriously, or you're pointing something out. Hard to tell which.

so who here actually suffers from heat problems on the street or track?

Braineack 11-24-2007 08:32 PM

I did my first time at the track.

with my 1" radiator.

i went back in august, installed the undertray, added a $10 diy scooper, and flushed the fluid with a 30:70 mix and had no issues again.

now that I run about 70% more power from that point, the extra cooling can't hurt.

what was ambient temp in August?

I know the extra cooling can't hurt, but I really don't want to cut up a hood, and don't want to spend $700 at FM. I'm interested to see what the bell scoop does until I rip it off the first time I go rock gardening.

hustler 11-25-2007 12:55 AM

I wonder if I could get away with cutting holes like this:

Matt Andrews says he's had constant cooling problems even with the "triple core" radiator and 16 row oil cooler...which makes me afraid.

If I had an NA I would do it. That front lip assembly is badass too. Doesn't look the best but it looks more like everything i've seen on the ALMS race cars. Rivets, aluminum, and plastic(or CF).
I want more pics of his hood venting.

Its the mega-expensive axis power racing hood.

If that hood is in the $350 range, that would be the ticket IMO. Worth not having to cut and do body work on the stocker. That said, those vents don't look too friendly for a top mount turbo, and I doubt the extractor will work with my swap. I will probably go with ebay extractor so I can get it between the cam gears and rad. Looks a lot like the greddy shown in that CR thread and <$100.

they say 300$ range

hustler 11-25-2007 09:49 AM

that last hood looks like it even follows the body lines properly.

magnamx-5 11-25-2007 09:55 AM

I wonder though do these hoods play havoc with your belts and your alternator if you get cought out in the rain or don't park in doors?

Ben 11-25-2007 09:59 AM

too bad they made those hoods so fucking ugly

Although the gaykonexion hood is not the prettiest I've see, I bet it will remove heat from the turbo, and keep air moving through the radio. I'm tempted to buy one up if they are $300-ish, and if I need it, pop it on. I bet the miata roadster fags will buy it up for what I paid or better once they're an importing or production problem which is a certainty.

m2cupcar 11-25-2007 01:20 PM

cheap extractors :D

I could see these working for behind-the-rad hood extractors

magnamx-5 11-25-2007 01:54 PM

if the car sit in rain i get a bit of squeal on start up, once the car is running it makes no noise even if tis pouring down
i do want to make some kind of plate to go over the belt utilizing the timing belt cover bolts...that should take care of it...
