Default found a lemons car yesterday!

I found an ad on craigs list for a 93 miata that had fire damage under the hood and had not title. It was at a body shop and the lady had brought it in to get repaired but then told them they could just have it after they quoted how much it would cost to fix it. It is really a 94, the guy said it was a 93 because it was made in 12/93, has 117,000 miles on it and has an automatic transmission. The inside is all torn apart but everything is there, just in the seats.

The fire came from the fuse box and pretty much fried the entire wire harness by the wiper motor. All the wires are fine at the sensors and closer to the ecu. So, i can justsplice in new wires from radioshack and follow the wiring scematic from the shop manual. I will just need to rig up some kind of fuse box or find one from someone who i parting out a car. That and do a manual swap with money i ahve left and money i get from selling parts.

So how much is a 94 miata with an automatic, destroyed wiring harness under hood, with no title worth? $250

You dont even have to splice in new wires, just make an entirely new harness and use a megasquirt. Simpler, and faster.

How much does the shop want?

The shop wanted about $2000 to do everything. That included replacing and painting the hood and fender. Also replacing some things that i don't care about like the washer bottle and and some other crap that doesn't matter.

The way you wrote it... felt like it was part of the question still.

Not a statement of "I paid $250 for it".

Get in touch with disturbedfan121. He has the entire wiring harness minus MAF connector and coil pack connectors. He should have the fuse box too. All from a 94 that hes putting a V8 in.

Sounds like a deal to me, if wiring is the only problem then it should make a great candidate.

I'll be following this. I also think we are going to put a car in the So Carolina race in April. Email me sometime, I'd love to know more about your build.

good stuff... I'm good at electrical crap so let me know if you want/need any assistance fixing up that harness. After the new year work should settle out enough for me to get some time for fun.

Auto? $2000 spent on a crappy miata? Not only is against the rules of lemons, it just isn't very wise. I would wait a bit, and find decent, manual trans car if I were you.

My dad and his friends are entering two Toyota Paseo's in this years Lemons. Hopefully I will get to drive a few stints. They entered one of the Paseos last year and it spun a rod bearing after about 2 hours.

Yeah i am going to need pretty much everything but the transmission and clutch. That leaves the clutch pedal, ppf, slave and master. Shoot me a pm if you get a chance of what all of that you have and what you want for it.

We have already started taking it apart and have made decent progress. I will post pictures tonight of it.

Why not just run the automatic. Seriously.

Throw an external cooler on it, and im sure it will perform just as well as the manual if not better and definitely easier on the driver.

I'm actually looking forward to doing the swap to a manual. That was a plus when i was looking at it because it would be more of a project for me and my friends. Messing with it last night just removing stuff was some of the most fun i have had in a while.

On another note. I found a tag in the car for Hertz rental car and it had all the cars information on it. Turns out the car was a rental back in the day. I have always wanted to take a rental car to the track.
