Default Front coolant temp sensor thread pitch question

Searched over @ m.net and couldnt find it, google showed nothing either.

Anyone know what the thread pitch on the 1.6l front temp sensor is? Im looking to tap my front block off plate from begis coolant re route.

Searching revealed this: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t17819/ which suggests that it's 16 x 1.5mm.

Unfortunately, it also revealed this: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t21405/ which says that a 14 x 1.5mm plug fits in the hole, but that it's "not exact."

Probably one of those two, at any rate.

Hi, were you able to figure out which one it is? 14x1.5 or 16.1.5?

Its not 16x1.5 thats for sure. I ended up welding the sensor to the block off plate i have. I taped it first for 16x1.5 and it didn't thread in.

Thats strange because I used an M16x1.5 plug for mine. Maybe they switched sizes when between years.

has anyone drilled and tapped something and gotten the sensor to fit?
