Is this gear usable?

3 Attachment(s)
Damaged in shipping. 2 SMALL chips but nevertheless they are chips in teeth, so they would be the weak point.

It will have a torsen bolted to it, be autoxing, seeing track days, and hopefully have 300hp channeled through it.

Thanks for the input.

Coming from a professional gear cutter, yes it's fine. However you need to deburr the gear before using it. No part of that tooth should be sticking out, only in from the chip. Make sure when you rotate past the teeth you've deburred, it makes no noise and doesn't catch. All this hinges on a properly measured installation, not just a bolt in hack job.

Well I am screwed, bolt in hack jobs is how I roll. But I will make sure I deburr it and pay special attention to potential engagement noises from those two teeth.

A jeeper was saying it may or may not fall apart, I was doubtful but thought it would be better to get opinions of people "in the know" if you will.

Just file it all smooth and nail the install tolerances. It'll be fine.

As long as there are no sharp edges to create stress risers, you are fine. I would use that gear without hesitation.

How does that happen during shipping? Did they use it as a Frisbee?
