Is it fine to just glue it back on?

 

It doesnt look like it has many spider cracks splitting all over the place. Perhaps if they start to spread then i would replace the window but IMO use it. I wouldnt glue it on the same spot though.

 

The mirror glue is truly amazing, it relies on a perfectly flat window to work, almost like a suction cup. Any dust or debris (or the above pictured crater) won't let it work properly.

 

Get a giant dorifto mirror.

Yes. But if it starts to crack, get the windshield replaced. If cracks form, it can shatter unexpectedly. Not something you want to happen at 65 on the expressway.

 

Not the front. The front is a twin layer with a very sticky adhesive in the middle that is designed just for that reason to prevent the shield from dropping on the driver and bits of glass going in to your eyes and a big piece cutting off ur dick and another cutting off ur nose making u look like michael jackson.

 

Mine came off and I just moved over and glued the pad down.

 

Well, durf. No wideviews have dimming options, that I can find.

 

Had that happen in the in-laws corolla.

I took some super strong epoxy and plastered the thing right back on. Same spot. The downside is the new glue looks like crap. The upside is its been holding on for months now and no issues.

 

My insurance will replace a windshield if it's cracked.
No deductible. But i think it was like $35 or $40 i had to pay.

 

Two part epoxy. Same spot should be fine.

Yup. Usually does that when its old. On newer cars it comes off clean without taking the glass with it.

 

I consider windshields to be wear items. Over time they develop tiny pits, scratches, etc. You can't necessarilly see it, but the glass becomes harder to clean, the wipers just don't seem to last very long or even work well when new. A fresh windshield can be a nice thing.

 

That is also true, just some people avoid replacing them unless they have to.

 

I can't wait to put a new windshield on. Driving into the sun is like the equivalent of driving in a super bad downpour at 60mph.

 

I endorse the new one......I did a new screen in mine when we repainted it....so nice after persevering with the original 1989, lunar surface my one was!!!

Over here the insurance probably wouldn't cover that until a decent crack had formed though......

If you want a long crack all u gotta do is push on the window few times from the inside, and few times from the outside expecially when its hot. Or heat it up and toss an ice cube right on a crack and it should crack with a little press.
