Loving it man. I'm going to have to do the same thing in my trunk, but on the other side. It's due to using a non-sealed battery for so many years, this was before i really got into modding my car and saw my heinous ways. Anyways thanks for the idea.
In regards to the flat underbody, any plans for ducting to cool the trans and diff? Or a trans/diff cooler? I read in another thread from Savington that you will run into cooling issues and failures if you don't have the airflow across the trans/diff. Just curious what you are planning on doing to combat this.
Sick update though, thanks. I'm in the middle of a motor swap, but maybe I'll see you at the track this year.

I'm planning on doing an engine swap this fall with the best power to weight in mind. I'm also kinda following Perryrace's build, but starting with a lighter car. I am hoping to be around 2100 lbs after some light weight materials.
As the car sits with 1 Ultra Shield Racing seat (stock passenger 34lbs), 7 Lb flywheel and a full Miata Cage is 2060 lbs.
The Swap
L33 Siverado Engine...............................430 lbs vs Stock, +80 lbs
GM T56 Trans (not using).......................125.8 lbs
Ford T5 Trans.......................................75 lbs vs Stock, -10 lbs
Getrag Diff............................................52 lbs vs Stock, -15 lbs
So with that I will be putting on 55 lbs. But put in mind my weight of 2060 lbs is with A/C, full interior (- racing seat) and pretty much factory body.
Exterior light weight goodies after swap is complete, Pre-preg body work

I'm working on my fender in the hotel. I don't know if I should have them the way I have them or set it up like the 300RR Lotus. I made the current one 35mm wider for the 275 wide tires.
