Has anyone found another source for lifter shims?
Obviously i've read all of the available posts on this subject on all the miata forums. Unfortunately, the nissan shims don't work at all for my needs. The mazda ones could, but even if I wanted to spend $100 on shims half of them aren't even available.
I have sent a quote request to Home since this looks promising. I'm hoping to hear back and for it to not be outrageous.
Other than that, I think I'm out of options short of posting specific needs in the WTB forum.

Precision Shims turnaround was pretty much 24 hours last time I ordered (SUBs), at their end. Pricing for shims and freight will be $Aus, so if you are in USA the exchange rate will work in your favour.
That link didn't work for me, so we are none the wiser who or what you are referencing. You still haven't said what your need is.

According to Greg Peters (CarPassionChannel on YT) Toyota Shims will work, have you looked at those?

Oh, that's NICE
You can order shims with a difference of .02 MM.
You can do "world class" valve adjustments with that small of a difference.
Far more common is a difference of .05mm which means you can hit +/- .002"
With .02mm you can hit +/- .001"

I've done 300+ Fiat valve adjustments, having a fully stocked "shim box" is critical to this process.
Fiats would start from the factory with serious variations in the shim size and often you could take a shim from one valve to correct another.
The valve adjustment would start with "shim swapping" FIRST and then going over to shim box for what you were missing.
We NEVER charged for the shims themselves...
Japanese cars have light years better "machine quality" from the factory and I commonly see all the original shims are identical or very close to each other.
**** poor swapping potential.
And although I own 30 lbs of Fiat shims the ONLY other cars they will fit are Volvos...
Not Mazda, not Toyota, nothing from Japan.
Damn it all!
A really good machine shop should be able to use the shims that cam in with the head and cut the valves in such a manner that the valve adjustment is correct.
Cutting the valves to reduce the clearance and then surface grinding the shim (bottom ONLY!) is an option if you are really good.
1 out of 50 can do this...

My Precision SUBs were only a few bucks each, can't remember exactly but I can remember that I didn't swear at the bill. You guys get a +20% discount too, which would offset the shipping.
I'd always thought that would be how it worked - swap shims around from subject engine, then the spares box. Downside may be the spares box gets filled with orphan sizes? SUBs are rarer, so if you can't re-use/re-grind, new shims are the only option (in my experience)..
Does grinding the valve tip affect valve life, is it case hardened anyway?
