Help me identify a couple of wires / other questions

Getting the SAAB together but I have a couple of questions.

On the first picture, can I block off the port in the center of the photo that goes to the bottom of the throttle body? It's about 16mm and had a short hose that, if I remember correctly, went to the stock plastic intake tube.

Also in the same pic I positioned a single wire that has a single round connector on the end on top of that port. It's a long wire that come out of the TPS wiring harness. What's it for?

On the next picture is the two fan plugs. I found the plug for the cooling fan on the driver's side harness but I can't find the plug for the AC fan. This harness came out of a 94R that didn't have AC. How can I wire it up to come on with the other fan? I was worried about overpowering the 20A fuse/relay for the normal fan if I just tied them together. I was reading the schematic and there's supposed to be a relay for each.

First pic is the idle air control valve hose spot. If you want to use the idle control valve then you need that left unplugged and going to something. I think.

Second one I would run to both fans. I believe I've seen some people do that just fine. Assuming you're not running huge high power high draw fans.

The round connector is the PS pressure switch.

OK. Must have been in the harness but unused. This has always been a manual rack car. Will delete. Thanks.

Connect the exposed pipe to your intake for idle control. Round single wire is for the PS pressure switch. I've run both OEM fans powered off of the cooling fan connector (big black one :giggle:) for 3+ years and it was fine.

Does this mean to extend a line to the intake pre-turbo? I assume this shouldn't be pressurized.

So splice it in and go? Works for me.

Yes, connect between filter and compressor inlet. For the fans, just stick 1 +12V and 1 ground wire in the black connector to each fan.

You can also put a hose/filter on the end IF running a MAP sensor. It just needs to "leak" air to control idle. Won't be pressurized- closed outside of idle.

I thought they supposedly leaked boost pressure if you did that. I just used an NB throttle body to avoid that issue

Another wire question--the four heavy wires in the 2x2 plug at the battery connection. I don't recall seeing these before. Where do they go?

Power antenna.

Woot. Do not need. Wires sure are pretty heavy and it confused me.

I should have taken the time to thin this harness. SO much stuff I don't need but I'm trying to just put it in and get on with my life. Hate electrical stuff.

I have so many unused multipin male connectors behind the cluster. I have everything plugged in that has a receptacle and all harnesses are in place. I think most of it is airbag stuff. Will find out when I try to start it in a week or so.

Air bags are all orange/blue for the sensors and actual air bag.

Here's the one labeled "airbag power supply"

The other one is wider and flatter I think, and has a ford emblem stamped on it. Can't find that one in my tool box. A quick google search showed this:

But it's obviously not the best.

Keep in mind you probably also have power mirrors, cruise control, and other power items if its got the power antenna.

Stein 02-26-2014 11:10 PM

Yeah they must use the same harness for everything. It was a 94R with none of the power stuff. That's what I get for letting it get to be two years from teardown to reassembly. Things get foggy.

Leafy 02-26-2014 11:12 PM

Yeah, same harness for every car. The only variance I've seen is with power window wiring, some manual window cars seem to have it, others dont seem to, or it could just be due to those owners not knowing their own dick if it was in their hand and not seeing them.
