Default Help me identify this part.

I'm trying to figure out the proper name for the part inside the yellow square. It's the metal cylinder that is used to align the engine with the transmission. Is this a dealer only part? Is it possible to remove them without destroying them? Thanks.

Well, to me that is a guide pin or a dowel pin.

If the reason you ask is to order one through Mazda...good luck. They have names that don't even match up with their workshop manuals. Maybe describing it would work with a parts guy.

I'm probably going to have to order one from Mazda. You're right though, even if I knew the proper name the guy behind the counter would probably have it listed as something different.

This is the only thing holding me up from dropping the engine back in the car. Of the 3 motors sitting in my garage, this is the only one without them and I don't see a way to remove it from the old motor without destroying it.

you can't press it out from behind? just use some sort of dowel and a c-clamp, thats how I press out the wheel bearings in my motorcycle.
