Default Help me identify a torsen

Hey guys, i have the opportunity to buy this diff for 250, and i'm pretty sure it is a torsen, but it appears to be missing half of the helical gears. Can someone confirm that there are missing parts and that is a torsen? I also have pictures straight through the axle, with no bar. Would it be worth 250 to pick this up, or is it worthless because its missing parts?

Thanks

It looks like a Torsen with missing parts. Because of the missing parts, I'd pass on it.

100% is a torsen. It's an incomplete one though. Don't buy it. There's a reason it's taken apart and whatever that reason is, it is not worth $250 to find out.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

From every picture I've looked at to compare it I'm pretty sure it is a torsen with gears missing from that bar in the picture. Like I said in the original post, I have several pictures straight through where the axles go, and theres no bar which indicates torsen. But I'm going to pass on it, I don't have the time or money to deal with trying to put a torsen back together.

go look at a picture of a T1 torsen.

Having fucked with the '07 FSAE car's T1-based diff as much as I did back in the day, I actually do know what I'm talking about.

I thought that bar indicated that it wasn't a Torsen.

either way, this is not worth it. Torsen+missing parts or just an open diff. doesn't ****** matter, its not $250 worth of your money thats for sure.

http://www.torsen.com/products/T-1.htm

T1 torsens have 6 shafts actually. Each shaft has a combined helical/spur gear on it. The OP's diff is missing one of those helical/spur gears and that's why you can see one of the shafts.

It's definitely a T1 torsen but it's missing at least one of its worm gears.
The blue arrow points to the missing piece.
It's not worth it.
