Default How do I remove the heater controls?

On my '99 I want to remove the defroster button / heater control panel. I need to gain access to my defrost button wiring. How do I acomplish this feat without breaking anything?

The garage at m.net has an article about removing the dash. It's covered in there.

Once you realize how the control cables come out, it's easy. I looked at that for a while. There is a set procedure to reinstall the cables in the FSM. It entails putting a pin or nail into a hole in the arm and then into the body to align the flappers and THEN clamping the cable in place. I haven't done that part yet, but at least that's what I read in the FSM. It's not like a regular cable that is fixed length.

I read the article on m.net. How do I get the first step (removal of the cover around the radio / heater controls) off? I don't wanna go ahead and pry and break ****.

If it's anything like the NA there should be 2 screws on the left and right bottom then it just pulls out

It can't be that hard. Just time consuming. I am going to be dooing something very similar just haven't gotten to it yet.

Have a great day,
Jared
