how much vacuum does my car pull at idle in psi?

I don't feel like looking up the gay-ass conversion table, just fucking tell me or I'm going to kick your ass...please.

38kpa is the magic #. I need to order a penis pump...I mean blow off valve.

neogenesis2004 08-17-2009 09:48 PM

Here you go douche, 38 kpa 5.511434044 psi, However, 100kpa is atmo. So technically you are in negative psi.... My head hurts.

so should I get an 8psi BOV spring, or something firmer? I'm pretty firm right now.

neogenesis2004 08-17-2009 10:05 PM

Are you going with a Tial I assume? From what I've read you should go with the stiffest spring with it.

I personally have a Greddy Type R, so my shit is adjustable.

TurboTim 08-17-2009 10:07 PM

I want it in inHg. My autometer gauge says my miata, idling is around 21.

Joe Perez 08-17-2009 10:08 PM

Aren't you running a MAP-based ECU, Hustler? Hell, my BOV is open at idle.

hustler 08-17-2009 10:08 PM

Tim, I'm still emailing you. I don't want compressor surge of course. My gauge reads 222 or so at idle, 28inhg on decel. What do you recommend?

Yes, tial Q.

neogenesis2004 08-17-2009 10:09 PM

You need the Pink spring. -12psi.

mine won't be....hopefully. However, I don't know if its better to go with too much or too little spring. I guess I'd rather it suck in dust rather than compressor surge.

neogenesis2004 08-17-2009 10:11 PM

Trust me, you will not surge. If I lift when in boost, my logs show 8KPa which is the lowest the MAP sensor reads. That thing WILL open.

I'd recommend whatever TiAL recommends cause I have zero experience with their stuff.

hustler 08-17-2009 10:25 PM

K, You've been emailed Tim. I'll go with pink.

TurboTim 08-17-2009 10:34 PM

FWIW, I had to modify/machine my old-style FM BOV to open sooner/have less spring pressure with the current twins. It's open at idle. Otherwise it'd compressor surge just going from 10inHG vac to 15inHg vac cruising.

But your .86 is going to be so laggy it won't matter. :p

ok...then order a softer one, I don't care...go for what we know will work the first time because if I don't make it to Hallett with this car I'm going to cry.

yes, my turbine is too big and compression is too low.

neogenesis2004 08-17-2009 10:55 PM

Get both springs??? They only cost like $15.

I didn't know what "lawlin" was so I looked it up.

I got 2 full weekends to build yours stuffes. Plus an extra day off work due to Labor day. If he doesn't make it it won't be because of me.

Saved for posterity.

Better to go with too little. There's nothing wrong with it leaking at idle, just put a filter on the discharge port. Quiets it down a tad at the same time.

TurboTim 08-17-2009 11:35 PM

Tial Q has discharge ports all around cause that's sooo cool right. But I agree nevertheless.
