how small is too small for a steering wheel?

I am thinking about getting this wheel (http://www.sparcousa.com/psteering_comp.asp?id=266) it is a little over 10". Do you guys think that is too small? I have never driven with such a small wheel. I dont want to get it and regret my purchase. What are some pros and cons to small steering wheels?

Kelly 10-08-2007 11:26 PM

Thats a go cart wheel. :skid:

wes65 10-08-2007 11:28 PM

so it wouldnt bolt up?

MX_Eva 10-08-2007 11:36 PM

Nope, and you would really want to go with something bigger

I like my http://www.sparcousa.com/psteering_comp.asp?id=273
it has the same stock feel in size but lets much bigger legs behind it as it's a deep dish. It's light as all hell and it's got a "center" marker, which while I'm no rally junky is nice for drift *shrug*

http://www.sparcousa.com/psteering_comp.asp?id=278

what do you think about that? i really like the idea of suede.

Kelly 10-08-2007 11:44 PM

Thats sick.....as long as you order it through me. :)

wes65 10-08-2007 11:46 PM

can you get it to me any cheaper than 299?

Kelly 10-08-2007 11:50 PM

Hows $295 shipped?

wes65 10-08-2007 11:56 PM

I have a MOMO team 10 inch steering wheel and it's perfect.

There's no such thing as too small.Just as long as you don't get anything over 12 inch.

Kelly 10-09-2007 12:31 AM

Just have her shoot me an email. wideopentuning@gmail.com

wes65 10-09-2007 12:48 AM

wait, so the 3 bolt pattern like on this wheel (http://www.sparcousa.com/psteering_comp.asp?id=266) will or will not bolt up to the sparco miata hub adapter?

Kelly 10-09-2007 01:12 AM

I am pretty sure it won't.

slutz4 10-09-2007 09:09 AM

that wheel would be rediculously small, even in our car. I run a 320 and people keep saying how small they think it is

wes65 10-09-2007 09:45 AM

does anyone run with one thats not round, like this http://www.sparcousa.com/psteering_comp.asp?id=271? i was wondering if sharp turns are much different?

Zabac 10-09-2007 09:58 AM

i have a D shape, I like it, you get used to it soon
too small is when you can hold it at 3 and 9 while you are handcuffed...cheech and chong, lol

Kelly 10-09-2007 12:02 PM

D ring is the way to go in a Miata. Makes getting in and out a hair easier plus just looks bad ass. Email me when you decide what wheel you want.;)

This is the wheel I have:
http://www.sparcousa.com/psteering_street.asp?id=293

I wouldn't go any smaller than that personally. Also I'd stay away from suede covered wheels, would get pretty gross using it with out gloves after a while.

From the sweat?

Kelly 10-09-2007 07:39 PM

If you give them a wipe down every once in a while and remember to brush the nap up when you clean the inside of your car they can last quite a while.
