Job market isn't fantastic, but housing and utilities are very affordable in many areas.

This gas thing is BS.
We used to have hurricans all the time and never have any shortages.
That is what the reserves are for. We need to use them.
And gas prices going up to spectulation should be stopped.
Our fine country is corrupt and sold out to the oil companies.
And we are paying for it.

I spent 45 minutes last night at 1:30am trying to find gas, only to end up with 89 octane in hickville. I can sympathize with you.

This situation continues to get WORSE, not better. There is NO GAS in metro Atlanta.
And I'm not kidding or exaggerating. At first only certain grades were out, then intermittent outages at certain stations. Now it's nowhere. The station near my house I typically fill up at has not had fuel of any kind in over a week. The couple of stations that had fuel on Friday were selling 87octane at $8.89 per gallon! And of course had lines as it was that or nothing.

My rush hour commute friday was nearly a ghost town. There are few cars on the road, no one is going anywhere. There are plenty of abandoned cars on the sides of roads and at gas station parking lots--out of fuel and stuck.

I saw ONE station with fuel yesterday. ONE out of the many dozens I passed. They did not have fuel on my way to where I was going, but did several hours later on my return trip. It was a large station with 15-20 pumps. It was completely full and had at least 50 cars waiting in both the 2 streets that service it (station was at an intersection). There were cops everywhere directing and monitoring.

This has got to be more than crippling to the local economy. The stations aren't making money. People can't get anywhere to spend money. People won't be able to go to work to make money. The businesses with absent workers will suffer, etc etc etc.

I'm not going anywhere else this weekend. My cars are parked. I'd like to go out and enjoy this beautiful weather, but if I do so, I won't have any fuel to get to work Monday! And if I don't get to refuel Monday, I may not have fuel to get to work Tuesday!

I visited the national news websites. Even CNN, based in Atlanta, headlines multiple stories about Paul Newman's death and Scarlett Johanesn's wedding. RIP Mr Newman. Scarlett is very hot (I'd PITTB), but the reality is I want gas to go to work more! How is either of those stories more important than crushing the SE economy?

If it happens here, to my region, it can happen to any other region of the US. Or it can happen to the US as a whole. This has gone beyond crisis here. Is this even making news? I don't see much of this on the national news shows. And it's looking like we'll need national attention to get this taken care of.

Saw it on CNN several times in the past week.

In town it's the same story. There are people sitting in their cars in front of pumps waiting for the tanker to pull in. We called around last night and the Kroger said they had a tanker coming in at 7am. Wife called this morning and they had gas. She hauled ass up there and said by the time she was through filling up the line to get gas went on for an eternity. And nothing low octane too. She did fill up a six gallon can so we should be good for the next 4 weeks. :giggle: Though my car has less than 1/4 tank, so I'll have to find some for me or do a low octane toulene mix. ;)

That really sucks. Damn. I dunno what to tell you, but that's bad.

It sucks. The local QT next to my house lucky seems to be getting gas ever day, but unless I got at 3am there is a line 1/2 down a 4 line highway of people trying to get gas, it sucks. The worst part is the local gas stations are getting their normal weekly amounts but people are freaking out and draining the tanks as soon as they fill.

I am so sick of this crap.

Breaking news: I got $30 of 87 at $4/gal with just a small wait time. Most people are probably eating Sunday dinner. I saw another station at 4.39/gal that had some fairly long lines.

Neither had anything other than 87. No others stations had gas of any grade. All that carry diesel seem to have it.

dont have a problem with running out of gasin NJ, i bet you all wish you had the most of the refineries in your state now dont ya lol

There is not much problem getting any grade you want here, you just have to wait to get it, lines look like they are hours long.

I recently took a trip to columbus, they had plenty of gas there. Someone is not telling us the whole story.

Wow, there's gas and in multiple grades in Columbus and in Woodstock?
Hopefully that's a good indicator of it coming back here too! And hopefully it's that nice less oxygenated high sulfur stuff that gives better power and economy. I don't need no stinkin oxygen in my gas, I get it via my turbo thank you very much.

There is multiple grades available in woodstock... all though most gas stations are completely out, Premium seems to last longest.

There is no gas shortage at all in columbus. I dont believe there ever was... but thats 150 miles away

Neighbor just came back from Augusta and said there was all the gas you could want just east of Conyers on 20. I believe much of it is metro-gas-panic. No surprise there.

Yeah, definitely metro-panic. Yesterday, we hit a QT on 85-South at Spaghetti Junction and waited about 5 minutes to fill up. No mid or premium though.

Down here where I am, it's very hit and miss, and most only have 87. Go further south and there's gas to be had, however, the next exit away is 6 miles, and the next after that is almost 15 miles more.

I've never seen a shortage here in Tulsa. In fact, I only worry about prices if anything. And Tulsa has some of the lowest prices around. I turn into a whiny bitch when prices go up. I should save myself the trouble and ride my bike to work. It'd be a 20-25 minute commute on an 18 speed and with weather as nice as it is, I wouldn't have to worry about sweating my ass off to get there. On the other hand, I might just buy a cheap used crotch rocket and enjoy going 2 weeks on a tank. I don't want no stinkin 250 Ninja though. Maybe an SV 650 or something. I'm gonna go look.

Today's supply seems to be better than it has in the past several days.
Still haven't seen premium in a couple weeks.

Good thing the governor went to Europe. He should come back and pray for rain in front of the capitol again.

BP and Chevron had 93 octane this morning at Old Milton (120) and Satellite Boulevard. This was 7.15 am and there were no lines.

Suwanee, buford and Sugar Hill seemed to be dry Sunday evening.
No gas in Norcross area I know of.
Not good time to ride a bike with 130 mile radius between fills, or Turbo Miata in hands of 18 year old with 87 octane for that matter

Damn, there was a temp shortage down in Tallahassee, but I spent most of the week in Orlando and no one had even heard of a gas shortage. By time I was back north in Tallahassee, everywhere had gas.

Something is telling me I should have bought that Insight I was looking at... future shortages and I'm driving around getting 90mpg.
