Lol I appreciate the ripping guys, I deserve it. At least I admited it (and posted pictures) to help other people avoid the same dumbass mistake... Actually you all seem too smart, maybe I should have posted this on Club Roadster.
Well I got it corrected, it looks good, dropped it about 2", no pics 'cause the Garage was too dark as one of the lights burned out. |
I laughed.

what kind of coilovers did you install?
|
Best thread title ever.
|
The first thread I click this morning and it delivers hahah.
I'll admit while assembling my FM springs/Tokicos I wasn't paying attention and put 1 of the rear springs on one of the front shocks. Caught it before they went on the car. Not quite as bad, but I still face palmed. |

That's a quality screw up right there. You'll be pretty quick at swapping shocks in and out by the time you are done though! At least it wasn't a clutch or something tougher to undo.
I also did the short spring, long spring screw up on my first install. Got the shocks right but not the springs. They were second hand GC's and the markings were gone. 450 rear 275 front does not handle well. How is your Mom anyway? In for pics. |
Thanks for making me laugh. Epic.

I can understand being on a budget...trust me. What I cannot stand is the "ultimate cheapness" that people strive for just to be "slammed". No sports car deserves $200 brand new suspension (I do not mean picking up some Konis and springs for a similar price). Seriously. Maybe I'm being an asshole and I don't care, but for many many years there weren't "cheap" solutions....to be "cheap" meant spending about $600 for new shocks and springs, but at least they are much better quality than this Riceland bullshit. Maybe I'm just disappointed that more and more people just don't give a shit to buy decent shit...these same people are the reason a lot of the vendors who have been around for years are hurting.

SOMEONE PLEASE DO SOME TESTS ON THEM AND PROVE they are utter dogshit. Until then, I think the haters are fucking full of shit.
So just cause they're 200 means that NO MATTER WHAT, BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT that they will not last or break or be dangerous???? Fuck that noise. People said exactly the same thing about chinachargers. EXACTLY THE SAME THING. And look now: one of the most reputable turbo kit companies is selling "chinacharger" kits. Many on here are rocking 180 dollar turbo's and having good results and reliability. Look at rota wheels and other knockoff wheels: Loads of fucking people keep bitching and moaning "its cheap knockoff garbage" yet hundreds of thousands of sets are being used with only a very few "exceptions" breaking or being defective. So fuck that "if it aint expensive its crap" bullshit. I'm so fucking sick of hearing it. Try it, prove that its garbage, then hate on it. No one is planning to compete in any form of racing on them. No one claims they will hold up under extreme abuse. They are designed for 2 things: 1) lower ride height 3) daily driving And they WORK. They achieve those 2 goals with no problems. Hundreds of vw guys use them. Hundreds of other cars are rolling on them. For street use and regular driving they are good for what they are. And they are CHEAP. Meaning if they fail every 2 years they're still worth getting. /rant PS: I'm a little drunk so I may have been a little extreme with the wordage:giggle: |

I truly appreciate the post. I keep telling people this, and no one seems to get the last point you posted. They're meant to lower ride height, and be slightly sportier while still retaining the ability to daily drive it. Sure are a lot of people who refuse to accept this point. Just 'cause they're cheap doesn't mean they're crap. |
The superior man understands what is right; the inferior man understands what will sell. ~ Confucius
Anyone trying to boost their Miata's performance with cheap ass coilovers ( >$300 new) will not have the same success as going with an established marque like Tein, FCM, 949 etc. The big name suppliers really don't lose sales to the "knock-off" manufacturers unless the competition really offers an actual challenge to their products' performance. I don't think the 2 groups are a competing demographic at all... If anything, it will make the established guys find ways to lower prices (even marginally) on street/track setups that can offer slammage as well but still post shock dynos, do custom springs & have a quality, warrantied product they can stand behind. The wonderful internet has aided everyone's supply & demand efficiency as well as production costs vs. just a decade ago. I know The Progress Group makes excellent custom coilovers in the U.S. for under $1,100, you just need the Honda chassis mod lol. I honestly feel Mazda guys just accept higher prices for equal products vs what other brands' racers/enthusiasts pay... I may be a cheap fu*k, but pseudo elitism amongst 4-figure car guys is retarded. ;) /rebuttal |

I never, at any point, nor will I EVER try to say that these are anywhere as good as Tein's/949 Racing/Koni or whatever. Saying that would be like saying my Cubic Zarconia is as good as a real diamond. They do what some people want to: Offer some of the benifits at 2/15s the price. |
