Default I need a house... (theft)

About a dozen cars were broken into at my complex a few nights ago. The miata was one of them. They smashed the window and ripped the top... but they didn't take a damn thing.

I need a garage... a LOCKED garage.

I am putting it into storage this winter. So much for passing emissions this year. Looks like I will have to re-register it next year because I doubt they will renew my registration without current emissions passed.

Was it locked? I just leave mine unlocked 24-7, hopefully they will try the door before they cut the top and break the window.

Also of course you can't keep anything valuable in it ever. But it has worked so far!

Yeah and I moved into this "safer" neighborhood after my stock MINI wheels got stolen from a storage unit in the basement of my last complex. Where I live now is in a nice town and a nice neighborhood. You just cant win.

I have heard others use that logic... It makes sense until you get a smart criminal who knows how to start your car and take the whole thing... but it does help with my issue.

I am just pissed they screwed the top up. Wasn't smashing the window enough to get in??????!!!!

Bummer man. I'm always paranoid about where I park...though I don't leave anything in my car...hell, even have the stock radio to look even less tempting.

Yeah, at some point I will wire in a simple security system, like you have to have the left blinker on to start it, or something like that. Or just make a switch under the seat or something.

I also need a house, I am sick of working on my car in the street.

ugh. Sorry to see this.
I have a brand new top (in the box) and a frame (so you can assemble it inside and then just go put it on the car) if it will help.

Let me know if you're interested, I'll see what I have into it. I won't ask retail, though.

*edit* I may have a lead on a passenger window for you, too.

Get a warehouse with friends, it's infinitely better than a garage.

Sucks man. I have been there, they smashed my window to take a $6 flashlight. I now have a zero deductible on the car and it wasn't that much more a month.

I have a house...someone broke into the garage two weekends ago. Took ALL my tools (8yrs of begging the wife at every birthday/xmas down the drain), our high end mountain bikes, and the lawnmower.

Mother *******.

Sorry to see your car got broken into, been there. But thieves will keep thievin'...til you shoot them in their theivin' face.

Damn, that sucks. Was it not enough to get your homeowners insurance to pay for it, or would that be more expensive?

Dealing with that now. Unfortunately I'm not big on taking pictures of possessions or keeping receipts. Learning my lesson...

I'm really sorry to hear that. We had a neighbor who had their bikes stolen out of their garage not too long ago. Out of curiousity, was your garage door open or did they actually have to break in?

I was just having this conversation with a co-worker last week. I really need to just take my phone and make a quick video recording of the interior contents of the house and garage and save it to a cloud storage program.

I opened this thread wondering how someone managed to steal your house.

That sucks Dave. I had that happen a few years ago in front of my house in a "safe" neighborhood. Smash and no grab. Pain in the ***. I found a window for $25 and beyond that just needed a bunch of vacuum time. Blows they damaged the top, though.

I had that happen once at a movie theater and had to drive home in the winter cold. That glass is gonna be everywhere, you'll probably have to remove the seats to get it all.
