If a NEW car has somewhat fluctuating IAT that run anywhere from ambient to 'whatever over ambient', then I can extrapolate some of that info to my NB. I also will start monitoring my wife's Kia Soul's intake temps too, just to see if they get so high over ambient.
I can get the IAT within 10* of ambient, but if I wanted to see the actual temps right before the TB to verify and temps shoot up. Unless I haven't used the proper search terms and I haven't found the proper threads, I suspect the NB1 OEM IAT sensor housing itself heatsoaks. I'm not sure if the GM IAT sensor is used for this reason or another. As far as ground temps, I find with 100+ ambient temps, ground temps are usually 25* above ambient so it's very difficult to keep IAT within 10* |
GM IAT sensor heat soaks also. The GM sensor is used because it is cheap and has a known calibration curve that the megasquirt is programmed to accept.
