i had a thousand laying around, so i thought to my self,

a. fix miata, and hope nothing breaks....

b. buy newer car, with a much less chance of shit breaking

put almost nothing down on the subbie, and since my credit was soo good, i got a great rate and only pay 200 a month for a nice quick reliable car that seats 5

my roommate just bought his girlfriend (also my roommate) a 02 wrx sedan. looks identical to that.

I love subbys. If im not working on my miata i am swapping some type of subaru.

This was his last project:

Part that shit out!!

Turbo_4 04-16-2009 11:35 AM

Man I've wanted a subbie for so long. Prices are ridiculous right now. I keep seeing 06-07 wrx wagons with low miles in Houston in the 14-16 price range...holy shit! There's this 02 wagon in Austin for 8k I'm thinking about looking at...I would just have to use my DD miata as a trade in though...I just don't want to get raped on the trade in:vash:

Deatschwerks 04-16-2009 02:06 PM

Deatschwerks is the number one choice for Subaru Enthusiests.. sorry shameless plug. I have an 06 Wagon, just finished putting it back together.

Vashthestampede 04-16-2009 02:28 PM

My good friend lets me drive her LGT most of the time when we take it out. Fucking car runs great, sounds mean, and is practical. I want one for a DD. The WRX's interior is too....boyish for me.

Congrats on the new ride. And boo for giving up on the miata. :fawk:

I sold my 02 WRX just last year, I put 111K very hard miles on it. Kept it looking new though, and got 11 grand for it when I sold it. I miss it, never once had a problem. It was a very capable all around car.

sexyKEVIN 04-16-2009 03:09 PM

i only really like the old school 2 door 1's

urgaynknowit 04-16-2009 05:56 PM

just painted the wheels on it today, and installed an intake, ill take new pics as i progress

nicacus 04-16-2009 06:07 PM

Let me know how the intake goes, I've read nothing but bad things come from them.

cueball1 04-16-2009 06:25 PM

Friend of mine moved from here to Idaho. He had a Miata that he was autoxing regularly. Car didn't make sense in Boise. Sold it and bought a WRX wagon. Intake, exhaust, underbody shielding/skid plates and now he does hill climbs and local rally stuff. Pretty cool that he actually uses it as it was meant to be.

I put one in this LGT (even though everyone on the subie forum said not to), and its been pretty solid thus far. Definitely makes spool up noise easily 3x louder, but with the Perrin exhaust it blends nicely. Between the intake/exhaust the car definitely has better response.

I was just about to order one, I asked my GF if she minded (seeing as it's her car, and you know how women are about money "save up so we can get married" and all that shit" :drama: )
She said she's sick of me spending money on car parts. So i bought some E-codes instead :dunno:
Her loss I suppose.

urgaynknowit 04-16-2009 09:03 PM

it makes spool 3x louder.
i dont believe it made the car any fast or slower,
only thing it did was make the idle droop a little on cold start,
but after about 3 sec it goes to normal

def makes the car more enjoyable to drive

tom i sell the mata, make 2-3k and buy uppipe, downpipe, cat back and a tune

ill let u guys know if it screws

nicacus 04-16-2009 09:31 PM

How do you get 3x more spool sound from a car that has 0 spool sound to begin with?
Maybe I just cant here it over the 3" exhaust...

I cant speak for the WRX's setup but the K&N for the legacy brought the turbo to life.

Before I had to turn the radio down, keep the windows up, and put my head in the glovebox to barely even hear it spool. Now you cant avoid the sound if you wanted to. Whenever you are on the gas you hear that bitch. I'm sure it could be annoying for some, but I like it. It took her time to get used to it, but its been a couple months now and she hasn't asked me to take it off yet.

The cool thing is I got the K&N intake off the legacy forum's classified section for $100!

urgaynknowit 04-16-2009 10:11 PM

i got an injen knock off for 30 bucks off a friend and it brought this car to life.
i lightly roll onto the throttle, and with the music on, can hear the sucking air under the hood,
its great

ps, my cousin has a legacy gt limited, and his motor bay is 99% identical to mine, so i assume u hear the same sound i do

kotomile 04-16-2009 10:15 PM

Did you ever drive the Miata without the AFM?
