They are, indeed, K7's. 15x9 +36 with 225/45-15 RS3's.

Those rear lights are nice, in the clubroadster riser catalogue.

Damn, ok (again). On my list now.

EDIT: I can't find Rota K7's on Rota's site. Vendor specific I guess.

i lust for that car too. although, i'm not sure i would want a daily miata again. i guess it could be a weekend car, and my track car would be just that, track only. love the color combo, my friend with the v8 corolla had the s2k version of the car in these pics. it was awesome. nice lip, duckbill spoiler, oem hardtop, and powdercoated white rp-01's.

You could install a merc comand 2.0 unit like I did in my previous miata

^^ true.

Though, I like to support 18racing as they have done a bit to support the Miata community over the years. (eg. custom special orders on Miata specific sizes, etc.) Plus they're really nice to work with.

Not very "stock" looking, but certainly "retro."

I bet you could have it re-finished in black to fit in better, too.

How many miles before the tube starts producing microphonics?

I really have no idea. :P

If you don't like the tube, the "VX-5500" variant gives you the same looks, just without the tube buffer stage.

I like the analog level needles, but introducing vacuum tubes into car audio just seems like a solution looking for a problem. And I say that as someone who understands the attraction to tube amps and audio (I don't have any tube home audio stuff, but I do have a Mesa-Boogie DC-3). Solid-state audio is perfect for mobile use.

For what it's worth, i haven't heard of any major issues with this headunit. But as someone who runs tubes in their home 2-channel setup, i'd be hesitant to give it a shot, myself.

Something along the lines of that car is what I have always wanted to achieve. Subtle and subdued, but still noticeably different from stock, and bad ***! Unfortunately I always fall FAR FAR short of a final finish that looks that OE. I'm about to redo mine, so maybe I can take my time this go around, and actually make it look decent.
