Default Which intake Manifold? 2000 or 2001?

I just picked up a 1.8L out of a 2000 miata and was wondering if I should stick with the stock 2000 intake manifold with vics or should i switch to an 01 manifold i have lying around that i can just eliminate the vtcs and have a regular manifold. Does one flow better than the other or offer any benefit on a turbo setup?

It's been demonstrated that even with a turbo, VICS does provide some benefit: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20742

If you have the means to control the VICS system (it just needs an RPM-dependant switch) I'd suggest using the 2000 manifold.

Get a 99-00 manifold. It has the vics. MS can turn something on above X RPM. Also I have a window switch for sale that will do this as well.

FWIW my 99 vics aren't hooked up right now so they stay closed all the time. I can definitely tell they aren't working as power after 6K isn't like it should be. I'm gonna wire mine open for now till I get MS controlling them. Might loose some midrange but I need my top end power back.

And sending you a PM.
