K&N intake filter for throttle body
Serious question:
Is there a K&N filter that I can stick on the end of a '99 t-body that clears the hood? I need a lot of things right now and I don't care to spend more money on an intake. |

yeah or use an elbow.
but its fail aidz. because you will lose any shred of low end torque the car may possibly have had. why not spend like another 30 and get an ebay intake or something? where its at least a few feet long and wont kill your lowend? |

2.6''
That includes the raised edge. |
Thanks, does that mean I can do 2.5" silicone hose or must I go up in size?
|
hit the gym so you can get those skinny kermit the frog arms to stretch 5ply silicone .01" bro
use what I did to you last night as a reference |
Spit on it, bite it's ear lobe and slowly push the throttle body into the coupler. It might resist as first but a change in position might help both of you.
Coupler onto throttle body doesn't sound as good. |
C'mon, man. This is Hustler. He goes dry, all the way.

seriously, stop being retarded
get something like this: BCP Red 99 05 Miata NB MX5 MX 5 1 8 Cold Air Intake Racing System Filter | eBay you'll spend 20-30 on filter alone otherwise. probably more with clamps and coupler and whatnot, and have hybrid car torque |

I did it with a silicone 90 coupler and a short piece of pipe.

Part number for above filter?

Not sure. Came with BEGi kit and was a K&N.

As an example, here are a couple of plots of an F20C. The car was tuned with the shorter intake, which is the red line. Then a longer intake tube was added, which is shown by the blue line. As you can see, the longer intake actually slightly reduces midrange and boosts the very top end - the opposite of what you might expect. http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/6...ngthcompar.png |
I'm not sure how an F20C relates to a miata (different just about everything), and I don't have cold hard data (but reputable other people, like Emilio, have weighed in on the subject with opinions similar to mine).
What I do know though is that on my green 99, with 01 block and 99 head, all else being stock or nearly stock, installing a little elbow with filter like pictured above, made a VERY significant decrease in lowend/midrange torque and response. We went back and forth between that and stock, just to make sure, and confirmed our findings. Hustler will probably ignore this post, and I don't really care. This is more for people that are not stubborn as a mule that might see this later. That's just my .02 |
That's fair enough. Different for every engine.

hustlage, you want a stock 2001 intake and airbox to play with?

Do I want to build this intake out of 2.5" silicone or 2.75"? I'm thinking the bigger one but not sure and I need someone with a brain to do the math since I'm functionally retarded. |
Do I want one of these for $80
RX-4870 - K&N Universal Air Filters, Universal X-Stream Clamp-On direct from K&N or one of these for $50? RU-4960XD - K&N Universal Air Filters, Universal Clamp-On direct from K&N |
The XD is for off road. Dusty conditions. Unless you plan to Baja the car, get the first one.
